Tender for Repairing, Washing, providing and applying repellent work on brick walls of RJMA and Administrative Building at Main Campus, IIM Ahmedabad

Civil and allied repair work:

Washing : Washing of existing brick wall & RCC members using water jet machines of adequate pressure to remove dirt, dust, black patches, algae, fungal growth etc. completely using rope OR scaffolding OR ladder make it clean as per satisfaction of site in charge. Rates including removal of nails OR foreign objects on walls, cement mortar touching work of the same match with existing. Method of measurement: Actual wash area shall be measured in SQM & paid for.

Repellent work: Providing & Spraying of water based clear silicon paint of WACKER (make SMK -1311), CHOKSEY, NEROLAC-PERMA OR Equivalent over exposed concrete & brick wall surfaces, two coats wet on wet etc. complete as per satisfaction of engineer in charge. Existing looks must not change. Contractor must submit the 5 year guarantee on INR 300 stamp paper. Rates inclusive of ladder, scaffolding, rope etc. Method of measurement: Actual area shall be measured & paid for.

Scaffolding Work: Erection of pipe scaffolding for repair & restoration work for brick wall and other RCC members as per standard practice for safety up to 13 Mt. height. The Pile Scaffolding/ Structure must be self supporting type, no member shall be touched with the existing building/ walls etc. The walls shall not be allowed to be punctured for supporting the scaffolding. Method of measurement: Actual area to be measured & paid for (means actual wall length & height up to parapet top).

Redoing Exposed brickwork of required thickness with proper toothing i.e. with staggered joints as per EIC’s requirements and as below: - At any level. - Wet the cleaned out brick surfaces and lay the new cement mortar of a mix 1:4 or as per EIC on the base bed joint. Lay the new bricks (Good quality bricks), filling and compacting the consequent vertical head joints without any air gaps. Once the bricks are laid, the top head joints are to be filled with tuck pointers and compacted properly without leaving any air gaps. Tap the brickwork once the bricks are laid for proper compaction. Curing of the new brickwork is to be carried out maintaining the damp condition for not less than 72 hours. Pointing of the brickwork to be done as instructed in Brick Repointing item no. . Use a nylon bristle brush (non-metallic) to tap the mortar for compaction and to clean out the brick face.- RJMA & Admin Block. Method of measurement :Actual area shall be measured & paid for.

Exposed Concrete repair works: Exposed Concrete repair works: Removal of damaged RCC CONCRETE surface & Repair of the RCC Concrete BOTTOM SURFACE SLAB, RCC HAUNCHES, TIE BEAMS and any other concrete members etc. inside or outside building using CM (1:3), {Chaant plaster CM (1:3) wherever required} also, ACRYLIC POLYMER to mixed @ 5 to 10% by weight of cement and GLASS FIBER @ 85 gms per 50 kg bag of cement, curing etc. complete as directed. Method of measurement: Actual area shall be measured & paid for.

Crack repair in Brick walls: Open the cracks up to 3 mm width & 5 mm depth, applying cement mortar mixed with tapcrete in joints and finishing it with CM (1:2), ACRYLIC POLYMER @ 5 to 10% by weight of cement , GLASS FIBER @ 85 gms per 50 kg bag of cement to be mixed with the cement mortar, flush pointing work. This item is for repairing the cracks between arches and filler walls and other similar locations. Rates including pointing work also. Actual RMT shall be measured and paid for.

BRICK POINTING TO EXISTING EXPOSED BRICKWORK: (i) Exposed Brickwork must be dry and clean. (ii) Use an air chisel to remove existing mortar to the depth of twice the width of the joint (approx. to 1") of horizontal bed joints and then the vertical head joints of the brickwork without damaging the edges of the bricks. (iii) Use a plugging chisel or compressed air to clean out the remaining dirt and loose debris in the bed joints. (iv) Rinse the cleaned brick surfaces with clean and potable water to prepare the brickwork for laying the new pointing cement mortar of a mix 1:4 or as per EIC's instruction. (v) Apply a masking tape if required to avoid feathered mortar cover i.e. spreading of the mortar over the brick edges, and to achieve a clean pointing finish as per EIC's instruction. (vi) The new pointing is to be applied in 3 layers with the first and second layer of depth 2/5th of total depth of joint and the third layer of 1/5th of total depth of the joint (remaining depth). Compact each layer thoroughly and allow it to become thumbprint-hard before applying the next layer. (vii) The final layer of the mortar (1:4) to be given required finish of the pointing as per the EIC's instruction.(ii)- Curing of the new pointing of the brickwork is to be carried out maintaining the damp condition for not less than 72 hours. (viii) Note: where repointing work precedes cleaning of the existing masonry, allow the mortar to harden not less than 30 days before beginning cleaning works. (ix) Rate for scaffolding work not valid up to 3 mt. height inside the building.
