Excavation in earthwork in hilly area all heights and depths, in all kind of soil including saturated soil comprising of mixed soil, ordinary rock and hard rock. All work of rock cutting by blasting shall be carried out by taking all necessary precautions against soil erosion, damage to hill side, water pollution, etc. and to protect stability of hill side. Rock shall be excavated with chiseling and wedging out rock (where blasting is prohibited). All earth work in cutting /excavation, including rock excavation shall be carried out true to lines, grades , side slopes, width, camber, super-elevation and level as shown on the drawings or as directed by the Engineer-in-charge, in conformity with the requirement of technical specification for Rural Road, August, 2004 and clause 16.2 of General Conditions for Contract to achieve designed formation width including hauling and stacking of material useful for construction at suitable sites and safe disposal of unsuitable cut materials in specified manner including arrangement of dumping site, trimming, filling of unevenness, blindage and finishing of the road to specified dimensions or as directed by the Engineer-in charge for smooth riding. The recovery for stones, whether useful or not, for 167.31 cum @ Rupees 170/= only (Rupees one hundred seventy only) per cubic metre shall be effected on pro rata basis in all circumstances. Any loss to the public and private property during the course of excavation shall be the absolute responsibility of the contractor, which shall have to be duly compensated by him in all cases.

Any loss to the public and private property to during the course of execution shall be the absoulte responsibility of the contractor which shall have to be duly compensated by him in all cases.

Excavation for structures:- Earth work in excavation for structure in all depth as per drawing and technical specification Clause 305-1 including setting out, construction of shoring and bracin , removal of stumps and other deleterious material and disposal in all lead and lift including dressisng of sides and bottom and back filling in trenches with excavated suitable material . All work of rock cutting by blasting shall be carried out by taking all necessary precautions against soil erosion damage to hill side water pollution etc. and to protect stability of hill side. Rock shall be excavated with chiselling and wedging out of rock( where blasting is prohibited) as directed by the Engineer-in-Charge.all useful material such as stone, shingle, aggregates& slate etc. shall be sorted out and stacked along the road side properly. Stone filling behind retaining walls including hauling of material within all leads and lifts and as per HP.PWD. specification of 1990 volume-I and as per direction of Engineer-in-Charge.

Excavation in foundations, trenches etc., in earth work, lift upto 1.50 Metres stacking the eacavated soil not more than 3 metres clear from the edge of the excavation and then returning the stacked soil in 15cm. layers, when required in to plinths sides of foundations etc., consolidating each deposited layer by ramming and watering and then disposing of all surplus excavated earth as directed with in a lead of 20 metres including hauling of material within all leads and lifts and as per hP.PWD. specification of 1990 volume-I and as per direction of Engineer-in-Charge.
