PROVISION OF SOIL INVESTIGATION AT AIR FORCE STATION DEESA UNDER GE (AF) BARODA

To evaluate sub grade strength and soil properties through bore holes and shall be done by Calyx machine on both sides of the Runway/PTT/ Taxi track including locating the points on ground by using DGPS and as directed. Graphical boring log shall be developed for each bore hole summarizes the result of soil explorates.The Graphical log shall include location, date performed, type of exploration, surface elevation, depth of material, samples identification numbers as shown in figure I (i.e. typical boring log enclosed ) .Sample shall be collected af the depth of every 30 cm up to 3.00 mtr to establish soil profile, Test specified shall be carried out per bore hole and not for every 30 cm depth. Additional set of test shall also be carried out in case of change in soil strata in a bore for changed soil as applicable. For carrying out test of mass dry density and field density test, soil sample shall be collected from depth of 30 cm to 60 cm from ground level, depth of collection of sample for other tests shall be decided by consultant based on soil profile. Test report of above shall be submitted for following properties/ tests:- (a) Soil classification as per IS 1498-1970 (b) Liquid Limit ,Plastic Limit and Plastic Index as per IS 2720 (Part V ) (c) Depth of water table (d) Max. Dry density using heavy compaction as per IS 2720 (Part II) (e) Insitu soil density as per IS 1720 Part XXIX (f) Standard penetration test. as per IS 2131-1981 (g) Chemical test:- (i) Solouble salt content (ii) Chloride and sulphate as per IS 2720 (Part XXVII) (iii) Calcium carbonate method as per IS 2720 (Part XXIII) (h) Supplementary test:- (i) Free swell index as per IS 2720XL and as per IS 2720IXL. (ii) Permeability test soil as per IS 2720 (Part36) 1987 and as per IS 2720 part 13. (iii) Organic mateiral in soils Method as per IS 2720 Part XXII 1972

Modulus of Sub grade reaction (K value) Test at requisite locations as per IS 9214 (1979) and submit test report complete all as specified as directed.

NOTE: FOR ITEM NO 1.00 and 2.00 :- (i) Location of bore holes and qty of item No 1 to 2 are tentative and likely to be varried during execution. (ii) Contractor shall submit the details of samples collected for approval of GE. (iii) Legend shown in sketch shall be as per Appendix 'B' enclosed as the same are blurred in sketch. (iv) All tests shall only be carried out at NABL accredited laboratories only. (v) Yard Sticks for payment purpose ;- a) 15% payment shall be made to contractor after approval of collected soil samples of bore holes. b) 65 % payment on submission of final test report. c) 10% payment after technical and aduit check of final bill. (d) 10% amount shall be keptas resereved and shall be released after completion of Design drgs of main projects i.e Run way work Any requirement during preparation of these drgs required shall be submitted by the contractor to the satisfaction of GE.
