The High Mast shall be of continuously tapered, polygonal cross section, at least 20 Sided, presenting a good and pleasing appearance. The mast shall be manufactured using Special Steel Plates, conforming to BS-EN10-025. Each section shall be fabricated out of single plate duly folded and welded. There shall be only one longitudinal seam weld per section. The Mast Structure shall be suitable to sustain an assumed maximum reaction arising from a wind speed of 250 KM per hour as per IS – 875, Part – 3, and shall be measured at a height of 10 Meters above ground level. The Design Life of the Mast shall be at least 25 Years.
[B] LANTERN CARRIAGE: The Lantern Carriage shall be of special design of internal dia 710 mm made of 50 NB ERW Class "A" GI Tube, AOB Stand, the tubes acting as conduits for wires, with holes fully protected by grommets. The Lantern Carriage shall be so designed and fabricated to hold the required number of Flood Light Fittings and the Control Gearboxes and also have a perfect self-balance and suitable for fixing 6 to 8 Light Fittings.
[C] WINCH: For Raising and Lowering the Lantern Carriage for the installation and maintenance of the Luminaries and Lamps, a suitable Double Drum Double Winch Arrangement shall be provided with the Winch fixed at the Base of the Mast and the specially designed Hard Frame Assembly at the top. The Winch shall be completely self sustaining type, without the need for Brake Shoe, Springs or Clutches. Each Driving Spindle of the Winch shall be positively locked when not in use, gravity activated PAWLS. Individual drum shall also be operated for fine adjustment of Lantern Carriage. Details of Winch/Power Tool: [i] Type/SWL of Winch: Double Drum, Double Gear SWL 750 KG [ii] Method of Operation: Motorized [iii] Motor Capacity: 3 HP [Minium], 6P [iv] Torque Limiter: With Mechanical Tripping Facility and Reversible option installed inside compartment.
[D] HEAD FRAME: The Head Frame shall be designed as a capping unit of the Mast shall be of Welded Steel Construction, Galvanized both Internally and Externally after assembly. The Top Pully shall be of appropriate diameter, large enough to accommodate the Stainless Steel Wire Ropes and the Multi-Core Electric Cable. The Pulley Block shall be made of Non-Corrodible Material and shall be of Die Cast Aluminium Alloy [LM-6].
[E] STAINLESS STEEL WIRE ROPES: The suspension system shall essentially be without any intermediate joint and shall consist of only Non-Corrodible Stainless Steel of AISI-316 grade. The Stainless Steel Wire Ropes shall be of 7/19 construction and the central core shall of the same material. The overall diameter of the rope shall not be less than 8mm to achieve Safety of over 5 for the system at full load as per the TR-7 as referred in this specification. The end construction of Ropes to the Winch shall be Compression splices. Two continuous lengths of Stainless Steel Wire Ropes shall be used in the system and no intermediate joints are acceptable to achieve the required safety. No intermediate joints / terminations either bolted or else shall be provided on the Wire Ropes between Winch and Lantern Carriage. Details of Stainless Steel Wire Rope is as under: [i] Grade/Construction: AISI 316, 7/19 Construction [ii] Number of Ropes: Two Continuous [iii] Diameter: 8 mm [Minimum] [iv] Braking Load Capacity: 2550 KG per SS Wire Rope [v] 3 Nos L Stopper, Handle, Compensating Disc, D Clamps etc.
[F] POWER TOOL FOR THE WINCH: A suitable, High-Powered, Electrically Driven, Internally Mounted Power Tool, with Manual Over Ride shall be supplied for the raising and lowering of the Lantern Carriage for maintenance purposes. The speed of the power tool shall be to suit the system. The Power Tool shall be Single Speed, provided with a Motor of the required rating. The Power Tool shall be supplied complete with suitable Control Panel. The capacity and speed of the Electric Motor used in the Power Tool shall be suitable for the Lifting of the Design Load installed on the Lantern Carriage. The Power Tool mounting shall be so designed that it will be not only self-supporting but also aligns the Power Tool perfectly with respect to the Winch Spindle during the operations. A Handle for the Manual Operation of the Winches in case of problems with the Electrically Operated Tool shall be provided and shall incorporate a Torque Limiting Device. The Power Tool operation shall always be through a Separate Torque-Limiting Device to protect the Wire Ropes from over stretching. It shall be mechanical with suitable load adjusting device. The Torque Limiter shall trip the load when it exceeds the adjusted limits. There shall be suitable provision for warning the operator once the load s tripped off. The Torque Limiter is a requirement as per the relevant standards in view of the overall safety of the system. Each Mast shall have its own Power Tool Motor.
[G] AVIATION OBSTRUCTION LIGHTS: Suitable Aviation Obstruction Lights of reliable design and of Crompton Greaves / Philips / Havells / Wipro / GE / Bajaj / Jaquar Make and shall be provided on Top of Each Mast with ERP insulated PVC sheathed Copper Trailing Cable of size 5 Core,4 Sq.mm. [H] EARTHING TERMINALS: 2 Nos, earth terminal using 12mm diameter Stainless Steel Bolts shall be provided at a convenient location on the Base of the MAST for lightening and Electrical Earthing of the Mast. Each Mast shall be earthed at Two Points using minimum 25X6 mm GI Strip. Note: The Rate quoted is deemed to include the cost of Aviation Obstruction Light, Lightening Arrestor Spike, suitable size of RCC foundation for the High Mast Pole as per Manufacturer’s Design and 25 X 6mm GI Strip for earthing connection from LA Spikes at Top of the Pole to the Earthing Point.
S & F Energy efficient LED Flood Light fitting, of not less than 20000 Lumens output, 6500 K, with Pressure Die Cast Aluminium Housing, IP66 Protection and Surge Protection device of 10 KV, Heat resistant Toughened Glass Cover, high power LEDs as light source, electronic driver and connecting up with three core PVC insulated, sheathed flexible copper conductor cable of size 1.5 Sq.mm complete all as specified and as directed. Note: Light fitting shall be of PF>0.95. System efficacy ≥ 110/125LPW 10KV SPD included. M & L for Earthing complete with Galvanised Steel Earth Plate Electrode 600 X 600 X 6 mm thick burried directly in ground [earth pit not less than 2.25 m deep below ground level] with top edge of Plate not less than 1.50 m below normal ground level connected to 32 X 6mm GI Strip [Earth Lead] and GI pipe 50 mm, Medium Grade for earthing lead protection to the extent of maximum 7.5m, Earth Plate Electrode surrounded by 150mm thick packed layers of Charcoal and Common Salt filled in alternate layers, connected to the Plate by means of GI Bolts & Nuts complete all as per Electrical Plate No. 3 of SSR Part – I, connected to panel / DB including testing on completion including main earthing, Charcoal, Common Salt, PCC [1:2:4, Type B1] Pit with RCC 1:2:4, Type B1 Cover, 50 mm thick with 6 Nos, 8 mm dia TMT bars in both ways, MS frame made with 40 X 40 X 6 mm Angle Iron, MS Funnel with 20 mm bore, medium grade GI Watering pipe, wire mesh, earth work excavation, return filling, removal of surplus soil etc. complete all as specified and as directed.
