Pump Overhauling, Motor Handling & transportation, and Valve Replacement Works at intake well Pump house, FACT-CD
De-coupling, pump lifting, dismantling and cleaning The work involves: Collection and mobilization of all necessary tools, tackles, and lifting devices (such as chain blocks, slings, and D-shackles) shall be carried out from the workshop/tool crib. After ensuring complete electrical isolation and obtaining all required work permits, the motor shall be safely de-coupled from the pump. Using appropriate lifting tackles, both the motor and pump shall be carefully lifted and placed securely on suitable stools or platforms with proper supports, if required motor shall be transported to the electrical workshop. All connected piping, cooling lines, and auxiliary systems shall be systematically disconnected to facilitate safe handling. Heavy components such as the motor and pump assembly shall be lifted using proper lifting arrangements to avoid any damage. The pump is to be systematically disassembled, including the removal of bearings, sleeves, impellers, shaft, casing covers, and other internal components. Each part should be carefully removed using appropriate tools to avoid damage, and immediately cleaned using suitable solvents, brushes, as required. All dismantled components must be clearly marked, tagged, and documented to ensure traceability during reassembly. The components are to be securely packed and transported to the workshop and cleaned properly. The entire operation shall be executed under the supervision and direction of the engineer-in-charge.The assemblies shall then be carefully transported to the designated area or workshop using suitable trolleys or cranes, ensuring no part is dropped or mishandled. The entire operation shall be executed under the supervision and direction of the engineer-in-charge.
Reassembly and fixing back of Pump with motor: The work involves: Collection of all required tools, tackles, and lifting devices (such as chain blocks, slings, D-shackles) from the work-shop/toolcrib. New or reconditioned spares are to be collected from the workshop/stores or as per the instructions of the engineer-in-charge, and transported to the Intake Well Pump House including motor(if required) and positioning. All spares must be thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and reconditioning, if necessary and prepared before assembly—this includes clearance correction, key-way fitting, shaft and impeller polishing, blue matching of contact surfaces of pump foundation and grinding of foundation plates (if reqd) to get minimum 85% contact, barrel inspection, and checking the suitability of threaded couplings and rubber bush sleeves. The motor and pump components are to be safely transported to the pump house. Reassembly involves the precise setting of internal components, bearing fitment, lock nut fixing, and accurate alignment of all rotating parts. The pump is then positioned and assembled on its base frame, followed by shaft coupling, installation of locking arrangements, and connection of inner and outer barrel pipes, cooling water lines, transmission bearings, and other auxiliary systems. After mechanical assembly, the cooling water lines are installed, and the entire system is checked for leaks with necessary rectifications carried out as required. Any required modifications in the pipeline shall be carried out including spool piece fabrications and NRV fixing as per site conditions and Engineer-in-Charge’s directions Final activities include lubrication, a trial run, and commissioning of the assembled unit. Site cleaning and the transportation of all scrap and dismantled materials to the scrap yard will be completed. All work shall be carried out under the strict supervision and guidance of the engineer-in-charge.
Motor transporting: The work involves: Collection of appropriate tools, tackles, slings, lifting devices(such as chain blocks, slings, D-shackles) from the work-shop /toolcrib. After ensuring electrical isolation and permit clearance, the motor is to be safely decoupled from the pump using proper tools and support arrangements. The motor is then carefully lifted and transported to the electrical workshop using suitable material handling equipment (such as a crane, and trolley), ensuring no damage during transit. A replacement or reconditioned motor is to be collected from the electrical workshop, inspected for readiness, and safely transported to the Intake Well Pump House. Site arrangements must be made for proper lifting and positioning of the motor above the pump using proper slings and tackles. The motor shall be aligned and coupled to the pump shaft with precision, and coupling integrity. All work is to be carried out under the supervision of the engineer-in-charge.
Valve replacement: The work involves: Collecting all necessary tools, tackles, lifting equipment, and the designated 400 NB spare valve and Non return Valve from the workshop. All items are to be safely transported to the Intake Well Pump House. After obtaining clearance from the process department and ensuring system isolation the valve area is to be prepared for safe working. Bolts are to be carefully unscrewed, supports arranged as needed, and the existing valve is to be removed using proper lifting methods to prevent strain or damage to connected pipelines. The gasket seating area must be thoroughly cleaned and inspected. Any worn gaskets or sealing surfaces are to be replaced to ensure proper sealing. The new valve/Non-Return Valve is then aligned and fitted into position along with gaskets and matching spool pieces. Bolts are to be tightened to ensure uniform sealing. The entire line is to be inspected and tested to ensure a leak-free joint. All work must be carried out under the supervision of the engineer-in-charge.
