Tender must be accompanied by the Tender Fee through Demand Draft only in

Payment of Tender Fee and Earnest Money Deposit

through online by scanning while uploading the bid. This Submission shall mean that
Tender Fee & E.M.D. are received for purpose of opening the bid. Accordingly offer of
those shall be opened whose tender fee and E.M.D. is received electronically. However for
the purpose of realization contractor shall attached original copies to the Office of

A.1.1 Hereby a Percentage rate tenders (Two-BidSystem) tenders are invited on behalf of
Municipal Commissioner,AMC by E-Tendersystem from the Contractor/ Agencywho qualify
the EligibilityCriteria, as mentioned in Section–A.5 of the tender document.
A.1.2 Tender along with Conditions of contract shall be available from the website
tender.nprocure.com.Tenderer shall have to submitdemand draft of banks
mentioned in Annexure-I onlyin favour of “Municipal Commissioner, AMC” Payable
at Ahmedabad ofRs. 6000/- as tender fee along with the tender.
Tender received without tender fee shall be considered as Non-Responsive and shall
stand rejected outright.

A.1.4.4 All Envelops and sub envelops must be sealed by tenderer&each sealed envelope

Tenders which are opened before the due date for tender opening with no indication
having been given onthe outside of the envelope or container to indicate that; is a
tender liable to be disqualified.
A.1.4.5 The tender shall be considered non-responsive if tender documents are not
sealed.Tenderer shall not be allowed to fill in or seal their tenders at AMC
Office.Tenderer are requested to submit the tenders well in time before stipulated
date and time of receipt; so as to avoid rush at the closing hours.
A.1.5Security Deposit
The Contractor shall have to pay Security Deposit worth 5% amount (or as per the
latest circular of AMC) of the total ordered Value in Indian Rupees in approved
Form“A”enclosed or other format acceptable to AMC within 15days from receiving
date of L.O.I./Work Order in form of Demand Draft or Bank Guarantee from banks
mentioned in Annexure-I only with requisite amount of contract
Failure of submitting security deposit within 15 days may lead to cancellation of
work order and in those case Municipal Commissioner has all right to forfeit EMD
amount deposit alongwith tender and have right for all strict actions against contractor.
A.1.6 The Earnest Money Deposit of all the Tenderer except 1 st,2nd and 3rdlowest shall be
returned as early as possible.
A.1.7 All details and schedules required for pre-qualification and technical evaluation shall
be submitted in hard copy in prescribed format.
A.1.8Financial bid shall be submitted only on online on tender.nprocure.com
A.1.9The technical bid containing Vol-I (technical bids only) from the tenderer received,
shall be opened Online/Physical in the presence of the tenderer’s representatives
who may remain present at sharp time of the day fixed for tender opening and the
technical tenders shall be scrutinized by AMC or his authorized representatives for
satisfying various eligibility criteria prescribed for the tenderer for this work.
After this, the Financial Bids of only technically qualified tenderer will be opened
online.The actual date and Place of opening of Vol-II-Financial Bid of tenderers
shall be communicated to technically qualifying tenderer only later after scrutiny
of tender documents.
A.1.10 The Conditional Tender will not be accepted and shall be rejected outright, unless,
the nature of condition(s) put up by the tenderer is acceptable to AMC. Any
suggestions/alteration from the tender must be mentioned in the main
forwarding letter. Bidder is advised to visit the particular site for said work under
this tender to study the local site condition prior to tendering. Request for any
kind of change (including prices) shall not be entertained under any

A.1.12Incomplete tender which does not fulfill any of the above conditions shall be liable
for rejection. Tender shall also be liable to be rejected if –
i) The Tenderer proposes any alteration in the work specified or in the time
allowed for carrying out the work or any condition in the covering letter which is
not acceptable to AMC.
ii) The bidder or the person authorized to sign on behalf of the bidder does not
sign the all pages of the tender and amendments if any (digitally online).
iii) All corrections, additions or pasted slips are not initialed by the authority
person having power of attorney
iv) Any Changes/ Modification in any text, documents in original tender
documents published in N-procure web site.
v) Any erasure/modification in original tender documents published in N-procure
vi) The tenderer or in the case of a firm the bidder or the person authorized to
sign on behalf of the bidder shall sign the bid document. The Copy of legal status of
bidder(Partnership Deed or Articles of Association of the Company) along with
power of Attorney to sign on behalf of the bidder will be furnished along with
other documents to be dispatched physically.
vii) Tender submitted without signing relevant pages of the tender and
amendments, if any.
viii) All Technical data sheet not furnished by the tenderer.
A.1.13 Acceptance of the tenders shall rest with the competent authority of AMC, who does
not bind himself to accept the lowest tender.
A.1.14Municipal Commissioner, AMC reserves the right
(i) To change, alter or to waive any technical or commercial terms, conditions and
(ii) To reject all the tenders or the lowest or any other tender in part or full without
assigning any reason whatsoever at any stage
(iii) For making changes / relaxation in eligibility criteria at any time
(iv) To split the tender in to two or more agencies
The Tenderer shall have no cause of action or claim against the corporation
or-its officers, employees, successors or assignee for rejection or split of tender.
A.1.15 It must be clearly and distinctly understood that the conditions of contract and
specifications shall be rigidly enforced and no relaxation on the grounds of customs
prevailing shall be allowed.
A.1.17 The Price quoted for work must be of Site / Store delivery of Corporation without
prevailing applicable GST. GST Will be Paid Extra as actual. Current GST rate for
works contract is 18%.
After awarding Contract and during contract implementation if Government taxes
increases or any type of Govt taxes added then the same rise /addition
will given to Contractor upon submission of necessary documents as
mentioned below.

How ever during Implementation of work if any types of taxes reduces or any type
of Govt taxes is removed then the same shall be recovered from Contractor How

A.1.18 The tender for the work shall remain open for a period of 120 days from date of
opening of Price Bidand the tenderer shall not be allowed to withdraw or
modify the offer on his own during this period.
A.1.19 Tender documents are not transferable.
A.1.20 Any False information given in the tender will invite invalid ationofany Contract
awarde donthe basis of such false information atthediscretion ofthe employer.
A.1.21 The tenderer, if directed by the Engineer in charge; shall increase or decrease the
strength of the labour both skilled and unskilled. The Contractor shall also
report of any accident which may have occurred within 24 hours of its
occurrence to the Add.Chief Engineer(Electrical).
A.1.22The tenderer shall carefully read the eligibility criteria, furnish the details and satisfy
the same; otherwise the tender shall be rejected without assigning any

A.1.25 After awarding of contract, If Contractor fails to work during execution then
Municipal Commissioner, AMC reserves the right to execute the work by another
contractor at the risk and cost of the said tenderer (contractor).
A.1.26 The bidder is required to check thewebsite tender.nprocure.comfor Addendum if
any before 48 hours of last date and time of on linetender submission. The bidder
who quotes the bid without attaching the addendum shall be rejected .
Addendum is a part of tender and the tenderer who quotes the tender without
attaching the addendum will be rejected.

12 Security Deposit (S.D.)
In case of Bank guarantee validity period should be
minimum 1 year and if work is continue after one year
then contractor to extent the same as per instruction of
engineer in charge.
SD will be released after completion of DLP.
13 Price Escalation Not Allowed
The Rates for Extra item of any nature of Electrical work
shall be Considered of lesser value of following

The quantities shown in the schedule of quantities are
intended to cover the entire work indicated in the drawings,

it without any objection.
Date of Commencement From Date of receiving Work Order/L.O.I
The Contractor shall have to make himself acquainted with
all conditions and situations pertaining to site. The rates

17 Site Conditions The rates quoted by contractor shall taken into account all
site factors and no extra cost shall be payable on any
account especially on the plea that the contractor was not
aware of any particular situation or condition.
100% Payment will be made after satisfactorily completion

In case of any given sub work order, the respective work
against given sub work order must be completed within
days. If this work is not completed within 30 days then a
Liquidated damages / penalty of Rs.1,000/- per Day will be deducted from 31st

Note: If any work is delayed due to civil work then this
penalty clause will not be considered.
The Contractor shall be responsible to make good and
remedy at his own expense any defect which may develop
or may be noticed before the defect liability period from the
certified date of completion. The Engineer-in-charge shall
give the Contractor a notice in writing about the defects
and the Contractor shall make good the same within 7 days
of receipt of the notice. In the case of failure on the part of
the Contractor, the Engineer-in-charge may rectify or

Contractor. The Engineer-in-charge shall be entitled to
appropriate the whole or any part of the amount of the
security deposit towards the expenses, if any, incurred by
him in rectification, removal or re-execution.

A-3: SCOPE OF WORK AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO CONTRACTOR
The scope of work under this contract comprises Rate contract for SITC of Electrification Work
with Buyback at Various offices and Building Premises of Central Zone, West Zone, North-West
Zone and South-West Zone of A.M.C. The work shall be carried out and completed under this
contract in every respect in conformity with the current rules and regulations of the local
authority, the Indian Standard Institution or other relevant codes, and with the directions of
and to the satisfaction of the Client.
GENERAL AND TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS
Note: After receiving of Work Order, Contractor will have submit the list of Items with makes of
all items and standard Warranty/Guaranty mentioned.
A.3.1 If any Sub-Work order is received by Contractor , then he will have to do visit of respective site and
do necessary survey of old(existing wiring/light/fan and related all electrical accessories) as well as
the measurement for new electrification work as per direction of E-I-C.
A.3.2 During execution time, if any damage happen the bidder shall be fully responsible.
A.3.3 During installation of new fixture the required accessories like connector, cable, POP work, cutting
work, pasting in ceiling work, color work etc… will be done by bidder and bidder shall ensure the
replacing fixture will fix in glowing/working condition.
A3.4 During warranty and defect liability period (for work completed under said sub work order) time the
bidder shall replace or repair the installed fixture within 24 hours after getting call from Engineer-
In-Charge (EIC) or appointed authorize engineer by AMC.
A.3.5 The bidder shall take the old materials after getting confirmation from Engineer-In-Charge (EIC).
A.3.6 There are libraries, part plot, gym various building have heighted place, ceiling height, some other
condition, therefore the successful bidder have to arrange all tools tackles as per site requirement
without any extra payment.
A3.7 For replacement and installation of LED light fixture in SITC and DLP period required all arrangements
like, scaffolding, ladders, or any necessary items should be scope of contractor no any other
A3.8 The bidder shall responsible to keep record and security of removing old electrical accessories, the
AMC shall not be responsible for those removed materials.
A3.9 The work is going in working offices premises hence bidder shall take provision and proper co-
ordination with Engineer- In-Charge for easy to complete work without disturb or interrupt the

A3.10 Removed stock and materials will not kept in lobby and offices the bidder shall ensure that in every
day removed materials take from site and must be taken by contractor as Buyback.
A3.11 During replacement or new installation or both the time if any damage or effect to existing
system/installations the bidder shall repair or replace the damaged part or replace the materials on
A.3.12 Only Supply of material at said site will not be verified by E-I-C. After Completion of the Complete
SITC work against given sub work order, the E-I-C will check the executed work. Contractor will have
to ensure that all the electrical materials must be as per Approved Makelist. If it is found that any
material is not as per Approved Make list and tender specification then Contractor will have to
replace/re-execute the said work without any cost. After that only the bill of executed work will be
submitted by contractor against given sub work order.
A.3.13 Contractor will have to work in the 3 zones of AMC as mentioned in the tender as well as other
zones/places of AMC also as and when required by AMC.
Note: If any Hazard /Accident happen on any working site and the loss of human life or loss of
any other equipment/accessory then AMC will not be responsible for the same. The
Contractor will have to take all necessary actions/compensations on his own risk and cost.

A – 4:- INSTRUCTIONS TO TENDERER
A.4.1.1 These instructions are provided to assist tenderer while preparing their tenders.
A.4.2 INVITATION TO TENDER
A.4.2.1 The Municipal Commissioner, AMC shall receive tenders for Rate contract for SITC of
Electrification Work with Buyback at Various offices and Building Premises of Central
Zone, West Zone, North-West Zone and South-West Zone of A.M.C. according to the
specifications and Schedule of Quantities and in the tender documents herewith
A.4.2.2 Tenders shall not be accepted after the hour and date fixed for receiving of tenders.
Telegraphic tenders shall not be accepted under any circumstance. Tenders received
after the hour and date so fixed shall not be considered. Tenders shall be received only
byRegd Post A D / Speed Post / Hand delivery on or before due date and time as
mentioned in Tender notice. Tenderer’s authorized representatives may attend the
tender opening. The tenders shall be opened at the date and time as mentioned in

A.4.3.1 The tender shall be kept valid for acceptance for a period of 120 Days (One Hundred
twenty days) from date of opening of Price Bid.
A.4.4 LANGUAGE OF TENDER
A.4.4.1 Tenders shall be submitted in English, and all information in the tender shall be in
English. Information in any other language shall be accompanied by its translation in
English. Failure to comply with this may disqualify a tender. Only English text shall be

A.4.7 MODIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS
A.4.7.1 Modifications of specifications and extension of the closing date of the tender, if
required, shall be made by an Addendum. Copies of each Addendum shall be put up on
website tender.nprocure.com. These shall be signed and submitted along with tender
documents by the tenderer and shall form a part of the tender document.
A.4.8 Evaluation of Tenders / Documents -Information to be submitted along with Volume
– I (Technical Bid)
The Contract will be awarded on the basis of overall lowest prices as per N-procure Vol-II.
A.4.9 SIGNING OF CONTRACT
A.4.9.1 The successful tenderer shall be required to execute the Contract within 15 days of
receipt date of Work Order/ L.O.I. If the contractor shall not pay security deposit and
shall not sign agreement within 15 days after issuing the first letter from the authority
of AMC, EMD shall be forfeited and such tenderer shall be disqualified for getting
further any work in AMC.
A.4.10 STAMP DUTY AND LEGAL CHARGES It shall be incumbent on the successful tenderer to
pay stamp duty on the contract and legal charges for preparation of the contract
A.4.11 Not More than one tender shall be submitted by a contractor or by a firm of contractor.
No two or more concerns in which an individual is interested as a proprietor and/or a
partner & /or director shall submit tender for the execution of the same work/tender. If
they do so all such tender shall be liable to be rejected.
A.4.12 Any objection/Complaints regarding tender can be done by any applicant/tenderer in
period between technical bid opening and price bid opening. In case any applicant is
complaining after the price –bid is opened then it will be considered as bidder/applicant
is trying to harm the tender process and complainant/Bidder will be Debar for 5 yrs for
tender process in AMC and Earnest Money Deposit will be seized. If the complaint is not
done by applicant then file will get close (case no longer) without checking.
A.4.13 Even though the bidders meet the above criteria,they are subject to be rejected, if they
have record of poorper for mance such as a ban doning the work,not properly
completing the contract, in ordinate delays incompletion,financial failures etc.
A.4.14 Force Measures : Neither party shall be liable to the other for any loss or damage
occasioned by or arising out of acts of God and in particular,
unprecedented Floods, volcanic eruption, earth quake or other
convulsion of nature, and other acts such as but not restricted to
general strike, invasion, the act of foreign countries, hostilities or war
like operations before or after declaration of war, rebellion, military or
usurped power which prevent performance of the contract and which
could not have been for seen or avoided by a prudent person.
A.4.15 Compensation under the Workmen’s Compensation Act:
The Contractor shall be responsible for and shall pay any compensation to his workman
payable under the Workmen‟s Compensation Act, 1923 (VIII of 1923) (hereinafter called the
said ACT) for injuries caused to the workmen. If such compensation is paid by Ahmedabad
Municipal Corporation as principal under sub-section 12 (1) of the said Act, on behalf of the
Contractor, it shall be recoverable by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation from the
Contractor under sub-section 12 (2) of the said section. Such compensation shall be
recovered in the manner laid down in clause 1 above.
A.14 DECLARATION FORM
A.14.1 I/ We hereby declare that I / We have perused in detail and have examined closely
the specifications/scope of work/general terms and conditions/special
terms/important instructions/note described in the tender document. I / We
hereby agree to be bound by and comply with all such specifications/terms,
conditions etc.
A.14.3. I/We also confirm that I/We have understood intent and content of the tender and
I/We assure that I/We shall abide by all intents of the tender besides its wordings.
A.14.4 I/We also confirm that my/our offer is strictly in line with tender
stipulations/terms/conditions and understand that deviation of any kind, if
found, my / our offer will be summarily rejected.
A.14.5 If due to any reason, payment is delayed then tenderer is not eligible to claim/demand

terms, condition and qualification (ii) to reject all the bids or any bid in part or full
without assigning any reason whatsoever (iii) for making changes / relaxation ineligibility
criteria at any time (iv) to split the order work and award the work to more than one

A – 5: ELIGIBLITY/QUALIFICATION CRITERIA FOR TENDERER
Qualification will be based on meeting all the following minimum pass / fail criteria regarding the bidder’s
general and particular experience, personnel and equipment capabilities and financial position. The AMC
reserves the right to waive minor deviations, if they do not materially affect the capability of a bidder to
perform the contract.

8.Litigation History
The bidder should provide accurate information on any litigation history or arbitration resulting from

joint venture may result in failure of the bid. In case the bidder has not provided such information and has
come to the notice of the Authority, the tender will be rejected at whatsoever stage and in such case all

1.2 Standards :

a)Distribution boards along with the controlling MCB's/Fuse or Isolator as shown shall be
fixed in an M.S. Box with hinged door suitable for recessed mounting in wall. Distribution
boards shall be made of minimum 18 SWG steel sheet duly rust inhibited through
aprocess of de-greasing, acid pickling, phosphating and powder coated to an approved
colour of adequate micron rating duly approved by architect/consultant.
Three phase boards shall have phase barriers and a wire channel on three sides.Neutral bars
shall be solid tinned copper bars with tapped holes and chase headed screws. For
phase DB's, 3. Independent neutral bars shall be provided for per phaseisolation in
addition to main neutral links.
b)Conduit knockouts shall be provided as required/shown on drawings and the entire board
shall be rendered dust and vermin proof with necessary sealing gaskets. The to pand
bottom side of DB should be detachable.
c) All DB's shall be internally pre-wired using copper insulated Busbars of appropriaterating.
Bus bars shall be suitable for the incoming switch rating and sized for atemperature rise
of 35° C over the ambient. Each board shall have two separateearthing terminals. Circuit

shall be provided with one earth strip connecting the studs and theother earth link

A) The RCCB should suffices all the requirements of IS as per code IS -
( Part I ) - 2000. The RCA should be current operated and not on line voltage.
B) The RCCB/RCCB should ensure mainly the following functions.

1.5 MCB/ Isolators:
Miniature circuit breakers shall be quick make and break and break type conform withBritish
standard BS:3871 (Part-I) 1965, IEC 898-1995 and IS :8828 (1996). The housingof MCBs shall
be heat resistant and having a high impact strength. The fault current ofMCBs shall not be
less than 10000 amps, at 230 volts. The MCBs shall be flushmounted and shall be provided
with trip free manual operating mechanism withmechanical "ON" and "OFF" indications.The
circuit breaker dollies shall be of trip free pattern to prevent closing the breaker on afaculty
current. Tightening torque at terminals shall be not less than 2.5 Nm. Power
losses should not be more than as specified in IEC 898-1995.The MCB contact shall be silver

Section – 2 LT CABLING AND TERMINATION
The scope consists of Supply, laying, testing and commissioning of L.T. XLPE Cableand its
AS PER SCHEDULE OF INDIAN STANDARDS; ATTACHED IN THE DOCUMENT
A) LV POWER CABLES will be 1100 Volts grade single / multicore standard
aluminumconductor extruded XPLE insulated with extruded PVC inner sheath outer sheath
madeof FRLS PVC compound conforming to IS-7098 part-1. Single core will be used for
DCapplication. Cables in buried insulation shall be armoured type. Armoured cable
shouldbe provided with galvanized steel wire or strip armouring.
B) Control cables will be 1100 Volts grade multicore minimum 2.5 sqmm cross
sectionstandard copper conductor minimum 7 strands PVC insulated inner extruded
sheathedand other sheath made of extruded FRLS PVC compound conforming to IS-1554
part-1.Cables in buried insulation shall be armoured type.
C) All cables shall be new without any kind or visible damage. The manufacturers
name,insulating material, conductor size and voltage class shall be marked on the surface
ofthe cable at every 600 mm centres.
2.4 Cable joints and termination:
A) Connectors :
Cable terminations shall be made with copper/Aluminium Heavy duty long neckcopper
crimping lugs only crimped type solder-less lugs for all aluminium cables andstud type
terminals. For copper cables copper crimped solder-less lugs shall be used.Crimping shall be
done with the help of hydraulically operated crimping tool. All cablelugs should be long
neck type only.
B) Cable Glands :
Cable glands shall be of heavy duty brass compression / whether proof type asspecified.
Generally single compression type cable glands shall be used for indoorprotected locations
and double compression type shall be used for outdoor locations.Glands for classified
hazardous areas shall be CMRI approved.
Ferrules shall be of self sticking type and shall be employed to designate the variouscores of
the control cable by the terminal numbers to which the cores are connected, forease in

Section-3INTERNAL WIRING
The scope covers supply, laying, testing and commissioning of wiring in rigid PVC
pipes,Switches, Sockets and accessories.
3.2 Standards :
AS PER SCHEDULE OF INDIAN STANDARDS, ATTACHED IN THE DOCUMENT
3.3 Rigid and Flexible conduits:
A) All conduits shall be rigid PVC having minimum wall thickness of medium gauge 1.6 to1.8
approved by F.I.A. & I.S.I. All rigid pipe and its accessories shall be of suitablematerial
complying with IS:3419-1989 and IS :9537 (Part 5) 2000 for flexible conduits.
The conduits shall be circular in cross-section and designated by their nominal
outsidediameter. Minimum thickness of walls shall be as follows:
a) Up to 38 mm. diameter - minimum 1.8 mm. wall thickness.
b) Above 40 mm. diameter - minimum 2.2 mm. wall thickness.
The maximum number of PVC insulated copper conductor cables of 650/1100V
gradeconfirming to IS:694-1990 that can be drawn in one conduit of various sizes shall be

3.6 Additional requirements
3.6.1 Making Chase
The chase in the wall shall be neatly made and of ample dimensions to permit theconduit to
be fixed in the manner desired. Chase shall be done with machine cutter only.In the case of
building under construction, the conduits shall be buried in the wall beforeplastering and
shall be finished neatly after erection of conduit. In case of exposed brick/RCC work, special
care shall be taken to fix the conduit and accessories in positionalong with the building
3.6.2 Fixing conduits in chase
The conduit pipe shall be fixed by means of staples, J-hooks, or by means of saddler,not
more than 60 cm apart or by any other approved means of fixing. All threaded jointsof
conduit pipes shall be treated with some approved preservative compound to
secureprotection against rust.
3.6.3 Fixing conduits in RCC work (slab / wall / floor etc)
The conduit pipes shall be laid in position and fixed to the steel reinforcement bars bysteel
binding wires before the concreting is done. The conduit pipes shall be fixed firmlyto the
steel reinforcement bars to avoid their dislocation during pouring of cementconcrete and
subsequent tamping of the same. Fixing of standard bends or elbows shallbe avoided as far
as practicable, and all curves shall be maintained by bending theconduit pipe itself with a
long radius, which will permit easy drawing in of conductors.
Location of inspection/ junction boxes in RCC work should be identified by suitablemeans to
avoid unnecessary chipping of the RCC slab subsequently to locate theseboxes.
At either side of the bends, saddles/staples shall be fixed at a distance of 15 cm from
thecentre of the bends.
A protective earth conductor shall be drawn inside the conduit in all distribution circuits to
proved for earthing of non current carrying metallic parts of the entire installation. Theses
hall be terminated on the earth terminal in the switch boxes, and/or earth terminal blocks
at the distribution boards. Gas or water pipes shall not be used as protective conductors
(earth medium). Every sub main will be earth continuity conductor to run along with sub
main wiring. Every circuit will have its earth continuity conductor to run along with circuit
wiring. In case of 3 phase sub main wiring two earth continuity conductor shall be provided.

Section-4 EARTHING
4.1 Scope of Work:
The scope of work shall cover supply, laying, installation, connecting, testing
andcommissioning of:
1.1.1 chemical or Electrode type Earthing station.
1.1.2 copper strips from earthing station to equi-potential bar.
1.1.3 copper strips/ wires from equi-potential bar to lay feeder mains and circuit to
connectpower panels, DBs, switchboards etc.
1.1.4 Bonding of Non-current carrying parts, and metallic parts of the electrical installation.
1.1.5 Provide inter connection between all earth pits of same type.
4.2.1 The following standards and rules shall be applicable:
1) IS: 3043 - 1966 Code of practice for Earthing.
2) Indian Electricity Act and Rules
4.2.2 All codes and standards mean the latest. Where not specified otherwise the
installationshall generally follow the Indian Standard Code of Practice or the British
Standard Codesof Practice in absence of Indian standard.
All the non-current carrying metal parts of the electrical installation and
mechanicalequipments shall be earthed properly. The metal conduits, trucking, cables
armoured andsheath, electric panels boards, lighting fixtures, ceiling and exhaust fan and all
other partsmade of metal shall be bonded together and connected by means of specified
earthingsystem.
An earth continuity conductor shall be installed with all the feeders and circuits and shallbe
connected from the earth bar of the panel boards, to the conduit system, earth stud ofthe
switch box, lighting fixture, earth pin of the socket outlets and to any metallic wallplates
used. All the enclosures of motors shall be also connected to the earthing system.
4.4 TYPE OF EARTHING STATION
4.4.1 ELECTRODE / CHEMICAL TYPE EARTHING STATIONS:
4.4.1.1 The substation earthing and equipment earthing shall be with T-39 OR & T-19 as per
earthing scheduled in BOQ & Drawing.
4.4.1.2 The earthing station shall be as shown on the drawing.
4.4.1.3 The earth resistance shall be maintained with suitable soil treatment as shown in the
4.4.1.4 The resistance of each earth station should not exceed the limit specified in IS:
4.4.1.5 The earthing grid and the earthing conductors shall be of copper strip of size as
mentioned on the drawing.
4.4.1.6 The block masonry chamber with Cast Iron hinged cover shall be provided for
the termination block as shown in the drawing.
4.4.1.7 The hardware and other consumable for earthing installation shall be of
copper/brass, as
per details shown in the drawing.
4.5 INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION:
4.5.1 The plate \ pipe electrode, as far as practicable, shall be buried below
permanentmoisture level but in no case not less than 2.5 M below finished ground level.
4.5.2 The plate \pipe electrode shall be kept clear of the building foundation and in no case,
itshall be nearer by less than 2 M from outer face of the respective building wall \ column.
4.5.3 The plate electrode shall be installed vertically and shall be surrounded with
mm.thick layers of Charcoal dust and Salt mixture.
4.5.4 G.I. pipe for watering shall run from top edge of the plate \ pipe electrode to the mid
levelof block masonry chamber.
4.5.5 Top of the pipe shall be provided with G.I. funnel and screen for watering the earth
\ground through the pipe.
4.5.6 The funnel with screen over the G.I. pipe for watering to the earth shall be housed in
ablock masonry chamber as shown in the drawing.
4.5.7 The masonry chamber shall be provided with a Cast Iron hinged cover resting over
theCast Iron frame which shall be embedded in the block masonry.
4.5.8 Construction of the earthing station shall in general be as shown in the drawing and
shallconform to the requirement on earth electrodes mentioned in the latest edition of
IndianStandard IS : 3043, Code of Practice for Earthing Installation.
4.5 9 The earth conductors ( Strips / Wires copper/ Hot dip G.I.) inside the building
shallproperly be clamped / supported on the wall with Galvanized Iron clamps and Mild
SteelZinc Passivated screws \ bolts. The conductors outside the building shall be laid at
least600 mm. below the finished ground level.
4.5.10 The earth conductors shall either terminate on earthing socket provided on the
equipmentor shall be fastened to the foundation bolt and / or on frames of the equipment.
Theearthing connection to equipment body shall be done after removing paint and other
oilysubstances from the body and then properly be finished.
4.5.11 Over lapping of earth conductors during straight through in joints, where required,
shallbe of minimum 75mm. long.
4.5.12 The earth conductors shall be in one length between the earthing grid and the
equipmentto be earthed.
4.6 EARTH LEADS AND CONNECTIONS:
4.6 1 Earth lead shall be bare copper or galvanized steel as specified with sizes shown
ondrawings. Copper lead shall have a phosphor content of not over 0.15 %. Galvanizedsteel
buried in the ground shall be protected with bitumen and Hessian wrap or polytenefaced
Hessian and bitumen coating. At road crossing necessary Hume pipes shall belaid. Earth
lead run on surface of wall or ceiling shall be fixed on saddles so that strip is atleast 8 mm
away from the wall surface.
4.6.2 The complete earthing system shall be mechanically and electrically bonded to
providean independent return path to the earth source.
