APPENDIX - I - OPTIMIZATION OF WTP BY REPLACING EXISTING FILTER MEDIA WITH DUAL MEDIA (ANTHRACITE)

OD180661/2022-2023: Designing of dual media filter including under drainage system and air scouring system so that uniform backwashing and uniform air scouring is obtained through uniform distribution of back wash water and compressed air,without any loss of the dual layer filter media and to attain the maximum efficient back wash and air scouring (The dual media fliter bed has to be designed considering the various parameters lie raw water characteristics,desired rate of filtration,required flitrate quality etc.The design shall include calculation of depth of different of the media ,considering the parameters like effective size and uniformity coefficient of the media,settling velocities of the media etc.The underdrain system and air scouring system shall be designed to avoid interface chocking caused by mixing up of different layers at the interface in dual media filter beds.

The flow meter should have the housing (flow sensor) to be made of ss304/carbon steel with anti corrosive protection and inside liner to be made up of hard rubber/neoprene all confirming to drinking water standards. The flow meter should be coupled with HART for data acquisition and transfer with provision for wireless transfer through GSM. The manufacturers should have the calibration standards as per ISO 17025 and the product shall have sufficient warranty provisions. Product should be tested and calibrated at FCRI, Palakkad and test certificate should be produced. Flow meter should be calibrated with physical measurement at site after installation. A battery back up of min. 24 hrs should be provided.
