INTEGRATION OF DENSITY METER OF AG HORIZONTAL TANKS WITH PLC AT BPCL MANGALORE INSTALLATION

Mangalore Coastal Installation is one of the significantly large installations of BPCL receiving products from Mangalore refinery through pipelines. Product handling includes ocean tankers, PLT and dispatch through tank lorries. The installation currently handles 3 products (MS, HSD & Ethanol) and has 13 storage tanks with a cumula ti ve storage capacity of 62,100 kl. The operational facili ti es of the installa ti on are spread across an area of 69 acres and are catering the opera tions comprising of PLTs, Tank farm management & TLFG. We have 5 nos of above ground horizontal tanks i.e 100A, 100B, 100D, 100E & 100F for ethanol storage. For real-time density and temperature parameters, we have already installed density meters in these tanks. These instruments need to be integrated with terminal automation system PLC for real-time data availability in SCADA. This is going to supplement inventory management. Tender shall include configuration PLC I/O and communication protocols (Modbus/Profibus/Ethernet as applicable); modify SCADA/TAS logic to incorporate real-time density data.
