Decanter SBR decanters shall be floating or electro-mechanically positioned with subsurface withdrawal and a positive solids and scum baffle. Fixed decanters or decanters that withdraw effluent directly from the surface without scum and solids exclusion mechanisms will not be permitted. Decanters shall employ positive mechanical type seals or substantially similar mechanisms for excluding solids, scum, and any floatables from the effluent. Decanters having open conduit(s) or any portion of the effluent flow path exposed to or in contact with the mixed liquor during any phase of the SBR cycle other than decant are unacceptable. All wetted components of the decanter assembly (except piping) shall be constructed of 304 stainless steel, The decanters shall be designed to mount to an appropriately sized puddle pipe flanged pipe embedded in the SBR basin wall.
