2. AssessmentofSubmission

The Employer will open the technical bid of physically submitted document of all the

bidsreceived for the package (except those received late) containing the sealed Tender

volumeandotherenclosuresthenannouncethenames

ofbiddersinthepresenceofbiddersortheirrepresentativeswhochoosetoattendonthedateandtimementi

onedintheNITIntheeventofspecified dateofbidopening being declared as aholiday for the

Employer,theTenderwillbeopenedattheappointedtimeandlocationonthenextworkingday.

In Physical submission, Bidders detailed and tender fee, E.M.D. shall be opened first.

TheEmployer at the opening will announce bidder’s names, , the presence/or absence of

TheEmployerwilldeterminewhetherthebidisaccompaniedbytherequiredEMD.

Bid and has not been furnished in theform,the bid shallbe rejected bytheEmployerasnon-

responsiveandtheTendervolumewillbereturnedtothebidder.

SubjecttoconfirmationoftheEMDbytheissuingbank,theTendervolumeaccompaniedwithvalid

EMDwillbetakenupforfurtherevaluation.Incase,theBankdoes not confirmtheEMD, thebid shall be

rejected as non-responsive and no furtherevaluation carried out.

3. EvaluationandComparisonofTendervolume

TheEmployerwillevaluateandcompareonlythoseTendervolumeswhicharedetermined to be

substantially responsivein accordance with Clause 2 and qualified

forawardofContractinaccordancewithClause5(GeneralTermsandCondition).

4. ProcedureforTenderOpening

Received copies of tender in physical form with in schedule time, will be open on

scheduledate and time. In the event of specified date of bid opening being declared bidders

whoqualifythecriteriathenbidderbidwillbeconsideredforopeningofpricebid.

The Employer will award the Contract to the bidder whose bid has been determined to

besubstantiallyresponsivetothebiddingdocumentsandwhohasofferedthelowestEvaluated Bid

Price, provided that such bidder has been determined to be (i) eligible

inaccordancewiththeprovisionsofClause3(GeneralTermsandCondition);and(ii)qualifiedinaccorda

ncewiththeprovisionsofClause5(GeneralTermsandCondition).

6. NotificationofAward

Prior to expiration of the period of bid validity prescribed by the Employer, the

Employerwillnotifythesuccessfulbidderbycable/faxandconfirmedbyregisteredletterthathisbid has

been accepted. This letter shall name the sum which the Employer will pay theContractor in

consideration of the execution, completion and maintenance of the Works

bytheContractorasprescribedbytheContract.

ThenotificationofawardwillconstitutetheformationoftheContract.

7. A successful Bidder has to deposit security deposit / Bank Guarantee as per Circular

afterreceivingletterofIndent.Timelimitofworkwillcommencefromthedateofissueofworkorder.

8. ClarificationofBids

To assist in the examination, evaluation and comparison of bids, the Employer may, at

hisdiscretion,askanybidderforauthenticationthecorrectnessoftheinformation/detailsfurnishedbyhi

minhisbid.SuchrequestbytheEmployerandtheresponsebybiddershallbeinwritingorbycable/fax.

Subject to aboveclause,nobiddersshall contact theEmployeronany matter relating

tohisbidfromthetimeofbidopeningtothetimecontractisawarded.

Any effort by the bidder to influence the Employer in the Employer’s bid evaluation,

bidcomparisonorcontractawarddecisionsmayresultintherejectionofhisbid.

Information relating to the examination,clarification,evaluation and comparison ofbidsand

recommendations for the award of a contract shall not be disclosed to bidders or anyother

persons not officially concerned with such process until the award to the

Each bidder shall submitonlyonebidpercontractpackage either by himselfor as apartner in a

joint venture. A bidder who submits or participates in more than one bid for

7. BiddingDocuments

Thebidderisexpectedtoexaminecarefullythecontentsofalltheabovebiddocuments.Failures to

8. LanguageofBid

by an accurate translation ofthe relevant passages in the English

heyimproperlyandunlawfullyenrichthemselvesand/orthosecloseto them,orinduceothers to

do so,by misusing theposition in which they areplaced,and it includes the

offering,giving,receiving, or soliciting of anythingof value

toinfluencetheactionofanysuchofficialintheprocurementprocessorincontractexecution;

 “fraudulentpractice”meansamisrepresentationoffactsinordertoinfluenceaProcurement

theexecutionofacontracttothedetrimentoftheBorrower,andincludescollusivepracticeamong

bidders(priortoorafterbidsubmission)designed to establish bid prices at artificial non-

competitive levels and to deprive theBorrowerofthebenefitsoffreeandopencompetition.

 MunicipalCommissionerreservestherightstoreduce/increasethescopeofworkandcontractwitho

utassigninganyreasonthereof.

 If Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is convinced that the Bidder has resorted to

materialmisrepresentation or provided fraudulent information / statement, the said Bidder

will beliablefordisqualification/rejectionatanystage.

 Proofforfulfillmentof eligibility criteriashouldbesubmitted along withTendervolume.If the

Tender volume is submitted without valid documents and without proof of

eligibilitycriteriaitwillberejected.

 ThosewhodonotmeetwiththeeligibilitycriterianeednotsubmittheTenderdocument.

 Tenders, which do not fulfill all or any of condition or are submitted incomplete in

19. AdministrativeConditions:-

 SafetyandSignage

Contractor has toarrange for the completesafetyofthepersons working for project, usersof the

road i.e. public and vehicles also. All the arrangements of traffic drums, metal / fibercones,

traffic blinkers, traffic signs as per design, safety tapes etc. to be arranged at

site.Necessaryflorescent marking on traffic signs to be provided so that it should be visible

atnight.Duringnightworkinghourssafetyinchargepersonnelshallbeprovidedwithflorescent

jackets. This shall be Provided at no extra cost by the bidder under

attachéwithspecifiedinthetenderdocumentsunderpayableiteme.

 LiaisonwithlocalauthorityforelectricalconnectionsfortheAMC

Thecontractorisresponsibleforliaisonwithlocalauthorityforchangeinsupplyconnectionornewco

nnectiononbehalfofAMC.ItincludesfillingthenecessaryapplicationtopowerSupplyCompany,fo

llowupandgettingthesupply,fillingthenecessary test reports to the power supply company. All

official fees including

securitydepositsandotherexpensesshallbeofinitiallypaidbythecontractor.AMCmaysupportto

get the temporary connection and may at its diseretien get the same converted

20:-CONTINGENTFEE:

 The Contractor warrants that he has not employed any person to solicit or secure

thecontractuponanyagreementforacommission,percentage,brokerageorcontingentfee.

Breach of this warranty shall give the Municipal Commissioner the right to cancelthe

contract or to take any other measure as the Municipal Commissioner may deem

fit.Thewarrantydoesnotapplytocommissionspayablebythecontractortoestablishcommercial

orsellingagentforthepurposeofsecuringbusiness.

 No officer, employer of theMunicipal Corporation beadmitted to any share or part

ofthiscontractortoanybenefitthatmayrisetherefrom.

21:-OVERPAYMENTANDUNDERPAYMENT:

Whenever any claim fourths payment of a sum to the Municipal Corporation arises

outoforunderthisContractagainstthecontractorthesamemaybedeductedbytheMunicipalCorpo

rationfromanysumthendueorwhichatanytimethereaftermaybecome due to the contractor

under this contract and failing that under anyothercontractwith the Municipal Corporation

or from any sum due to the contractor with the MunicipalCorporation (which may be

available with MunicipalCorporation), or from his

retentionmoney,orheshallpaytheclaimondemand.TheMunicipalCorporationreservestherightt

ocarryoutpostpaymentauditandtechnicalexaminationofthefinalbillincludingallsupportingvou

chers,abstracts,etc.

TheMunicipalCorporation further reserves the righttoenforcerecoveryofany overpayment

when detected not withstanding the fact that the amount of the final bill may

beincludedbytheContractor.

If as a result of such audit and technical examination any over payment

isdiscoveredinrespectof any work donebytheContractor or alleged to have beendone by

himunderthecontract,it shall berecovered by theMunicipalCorporationfromthe contractor

byway of all the means prescribed above or ifany under payment is discovered by

theMunicipal Corporation, any amount due to the contractor under this contract or

underpaymentmaybeadjustedagainstanyamountthendueorwhichmayatanytimethereafterbeco

meduebeforepaymentismadetothecontractorfromhimtotheMunicipalCorporationonanyother

contractaccountwhatsoever.

If, at any time, there should be evidence of any lien or claim for which

ownermighthavebecome liable and which is chargeable to the contractor, the owner shall

have the right toretain out of anypayment then due or thereafter tobecome due an amount

sufficient tocompletely indemnify theowneragainstsuchlien or claimor if

suchlienorclaimbevalidtheowner may be orbecomedueandpayabletothecontractor.Ifany lien

14. SpecialmodesoftheconstructionnotadoptedingeneralEngineeringpractice,ifproposed to be

adopted by the contractor shall be considered only if the contractor providedsatisfactory

evidence that such special mode of construction and completion of work to therequired strength

and quality. Acceptance of the same by the Engineer in charge shall nothowever,absolve the

contractor from theresponsibility of any adverseeffect and

concordanceofadoptingthesameinthecourseofexactionorcompletionofthework.

15. The contractor shall be responsible for observing the rules and regulation imposed under

the"MinorMineralAct",andsuchotherlawsandrulesprescribedbytheGovernmentfromtimetotime.

16. All necessary safety measures and precautions (incl. those laid down in the

variousrelevant Indian Standard) shall be taken to engrave the safety ofmen, materials and

machineryontheworkandalsooftheworkitself.

17. Quantity measured in the tender is approximate. It may increase or decrease looking

tothequantumofactualworkforwhichnoanyclaimshallbeentertainedbyA.M.C.

18. ContractorshallhavetoexecuteextraitemifrequiredorasperneedofAMC.

19. The work in general shall be carried out as per standard specifications of the

relevantitems to be executed & as per the instruction of Engineer in charge & as per the guidance

ofAMC'sConsultantforthisproject.

20. Thegeneralterms&conditionsofthecontractshallbeapplicable&shallbebindingonthe

contractor.The contract agreement shall have to be executed

betweenAMC&theagencytowhichworkisawardedfor execution.

21. ForTenderamountingbelow10lakhLOIshallbeissueswithin3daysafterreceivedofsanctioned

tenderandresolution.Within10dayscontractorhastosubmitSDandafterreciveing SD Work order

shall be issue to contractor and the time limit shall be start from

thedateofissueofthewrittenworkordertothecontractor.

For Tender amounting above 10 lakh LOI shall be issues within 3 days after received

28. Water Supply: The contractor shall arrange at his own cost, a suitable supply of

29. Electricity: Electric supply will be made available at the site by the Contractor and

thecontractormustmakehisownarrangementswiththeCorporationandElectricitySupplyAuthoritiesa

nd with other contractorsto connect and to takeasupply from such

services,payingallcostsinconnection therewith.

The Contractor shall be entitled to use supply Electricity as may be available on the site

forpurposeoftheworkandshallpaysuchchargesasisfixedbytheappropriatesupplyAuthorities.

In casethereis any delay in supply ofpowersiteof any interruption or fault in thepowerduring the

work. No compensation shall be paid for idle labor staff, machineries and for use

ofdieseloperatingsetsetc.asthecasemaybe.

30. Tendersshallsubmitallthevalid/certifieddocumentsinsupportoftheirinitial/eligibility

criteria mentioned abovealong with thebid.They shall havealso to

submittheincometaxclearancecertificateandsolvencycertificate.

31. No advance such as secured advance machinery advance, mobilization advance or

materialsadvancewillbegiven.

32. ThecontractorshallgettheelectricalworksexecutedthroughtheauthorizedGovernmentapprovedlicen

sedelectricalpersonorfirminappropriatecategoryinaccordancetocontractualprovisions.

33. Theelectricalworksshallbecarriedoutstrictlyinaccordancewiththedirectivesissued

34. Contractorsshallnothaveanydisputeorclaimforanykindofcompensations

(i) Ifthequantitystipulatedinthetenderitemsvariesorthescopeofworkchanges&therebyt

(ii) Iftheworkgetsdelayed/postponedforsomeadministrative/technicaldecisionwhatsoever.

35. In case ofanydispute,decisionofMunicipalCommissionershallbe final and

bindingonthecontractors.

36. Tenderswhichdonotfulfillalloranyofconditionsoraresubmittedincompleteinanyrespect will be

rejected. Municipal Commissioner reserves the right to increase/decrease thescope of work. No

any claim to that effect shall be entertained. The Municipal

Timelimit for thework shall be12 months after theorder to start the

The contractor shall have to maintain account of steel, cement and other materials that may

contractor shall arrange for barricading at night and arrangement of Pagi at night to

directthetraffic. Heshallberesponsible for any damage to public.If any incident happen,

duringtheexecutionofwork.In case of dispute for unseen or overlooked items thedecision of

theDy. City Engineer shall be final.The contractor shall have to give site clean of all

rubbishduringtheworkandatthetimeofcompletionofworkandhand over thesitewithfinalfinishing

of the work as directed.Alltherejected materials shall beremoved from

sitewithin24hoursbycontractoratthisriskandcost.Debrisshallhavetocartdailyfromsite.

Formixingmortareitherformasonryorforplasterorforanyotherpurposecontractorshallhavetopre

parethroughofbiggersizeandmixthemortarintherequiredproportion.Inon case he shall be allowed

to mix the mortar either on floor or any finished surfaces.

Thecontractorshallhavetomakehisownarrangementforwaterrequiredforthework.

If any extra item crops up during the progress of work the same shall be carried out by

thecontractor and he shall be paid at the rate fixed by Add.C.E. as per the rate analysis based

onlatestSORorifitemisnotavailableinSORthanbasedoncurrentmarketrates.Incaseofextraitemdecis

ionofAdd.CityEngg.shallremainfinalregardingrate.

Ifin the interest ofthe Corporation it isnecessary to changeeither any siteorthedesign

oftheproposeworkthecontractorshallcarryoutthesameathisquotedrateswithoutchargesany extra

and the contractor will have to carry out the works and he will be paid at the

ratequotedbyhim.Noclaimforextrarateforsubsequentchangesinsiteanddesignisentertained.

The cubical contents of the cement bag shall be taken as 1-20 cft. Per bag and the

contractorsshallhavetopreparethemeasuresboxesaccordingtothismeasure.

Octroi exemption passes shall not be given for any materials required for the work.

ContractorwillbefullyresponsibleforcomplianceofthevariousprovisionsundercontractAct.1970an

Thetender for the work shall remain open for aperiod (180) days from the date of opening ofthe

tenders for this work and that the tenderer shall not be allowed to withdraw on modify theoffer

The pipe shall be of best quality stoneware pipes. The pipes shall be of approved

qualitymake and shall be brought on site after approval. (The pipes shall be laid in grade as

perinstruction.)Contractorshallhavetoprocurebillsforstandardpipes.

The joints shall be done in cement proportion 1:1 (1 part cement: 1 part sand) using spun

yarndipped in hot asphalt and caulking tools. The hydraulic pressure test shall be given to

thecontractor for testing pipes and jointing. No trenches shall be filled without the approval of

theengineerincharge.

shallbedoneasfollows:

Excavation: The sewer trench shall be excavated to the alignment and gradient shown on

theplan and section. In all sorts of soil including old masonary, asphalt roads and wet

excavation.The sewer excavation shall be commenced at the down stream end of the sewer and

becontinueduptothegradientasdirected.Thetrenchshallnotopenmorethan60mts.inadvanceof the

completed sewer only when directed by the engineer in charge looking to the progress ofthe

work in obtaining the formation of the bottom of the trenches the usual methods of using

signrails and boning roads shall be adopted during the whole of the process. The centre line

ofuniform height shall be carried clearly on each rail. The depth of the excavation and invert of

thesewer shall be checked by means of boning road of approved length and also by straight

edge.The bed of the trench shall be well rammed before starting laying of sewer lines and

cementconcreteandmasonarywork.

Where trenches are deep in bad grounds the sides shall be supported by

suitabletimbering of shorting work looking to the nature of the soil near big or important

structure, thesides of the trenches shall be closely and securely timbered, if any settlement of

the buildings inanticipated the timbering shall be left in the ground. The various materials

excavated shall beseparately stacked so that in refilling that may be relayed on the same order

as before and leastpossible damage shall be done carpet on the public roads and private

properties. Surfacecovering consisting of asphalt carpet shall be kept on side and preserved for

reinstatement. Theexcavated earth shall not be heaped near the trenches so as to caused

unnecessary obstructionalong the trenches during inspection trenches etc. shall be tunneled

under only as necessary.The side of the trenches shall be nearly vertical and plumb and red

light shall be placed at eachend at intervals and instructions and further protected by rope fence.

Necessary caution boardsshallalsobecreatedandasdirectedbytheengineerincharge.

Wherever possible material excavated from the trenches of whatever kind shall not

beplacednearerthanthreemetersfromtheouteredgeoftheexcavatedtrenches.Theutmostshallhave

to be taken in refilling the trenches so that no damage may be done no sewer, no lumpshall be

allowed to be put around the sewer. The ramming of the filling shall be done and wellwatered.

The surplus earth shall be removed directed within 30 meters lead. The

measurementsof the work shall be exact length and width of the trenches as specified or as per

City Engineerinstruction and depth shall be measured vertical as per section up to invert or the

pipeline. TheCity Engineer reserves the right of extra excavation on either side if considers

necessary for thesafetyofthework.

The bottom and sides of the trench shall be dressed in level and plumb in all

directedbefore any concrete is in dia. In case the excavation is done deeper than required no

filling shallbe allowed to bring the formation to proper level but contractor shall have to lay

limeconcreteoffilingorotheracceptablematerialsasdirectedbytheCityEngineeratcontractorowncost

so as to come to proper formation. In case bad formations are met with the work shall haveto be

done as per instruction of City Engineer. Necessary arrangements for watering trenchesmust be

provided by contractor and without proper watering trenches will not be allowed to befiled to

further Contractor shall have to make arrangement for access to invert of the sewer andfor

inspection of the work as ordered by the engineer. If it is required to shift or after thealignment

section of diameter of the pipe the contractor shall carry out the altered work at therates quoted

by him for the original work for items and contractor shall not claim any

expensesduetothechangesmade.

In no case work shall be done at night or no Sundays & other holidays and during

therecesstimeexceptinandotherholidaythecaseofbadgroundssuchasrunningsandwherethework

must be executed vigorous day night without interruption when so ordered by the engineer.All

existing water pipe storm drains sewer line railway track, electric cables etc. which do not inthe

opinion of engineer required to be changed in location shall be supported and protected

frominjury by the contractor. The contractor shall be liable to pay all damages to water-pipe,

drainselectric and telephone cable and to private property during the execution of this contract

and thesame will be recovered from the running bills or the deposit of work change location of

anyexisting sewers drains etc. not otherwise from in these specification the contractor shall do

thework of making such change and the work shall be paid for as extra work. All places utility

etc.shallbekeptaccessibleforuse.

No extra payment shall be made for land sides and side stops done without prior approval of

theengineerincharge.

The excavation of trenches shall be done foot wider on each side of the pipe than

theinside diameter of the sewer in case of depth excavation exceeding 3 meters above invert,

onefeetwiderexcavatedoneithersidefortheupperdepthabove3metersshallbeallowedandpaidfor.

Wherever natural soil demands winder excavation the mentioned above the same shall begiven

after approval of City Engineer. The rate for excavation for easy jointing and caulkingnothing

extra shall be paid for this. Refilling of trenches shall be done only after the grade of

lineandhydraulictestpracticableofthelinesarecheckedandapprovedofandordergivenbythe

Engineerincharge.Therefillingshallbeaccompaniedbythroughwateringforlayersof0.50

mtrs. Further refilling shall be done thereafter and process should be repeated till trenches

arecompletely refilled. Temping and ramming with rammers shall have to be done at all place

ofimportant work where ordered by Engineer in charge. After order to refill the trench is give

thetrenchesshallhavetoberefilledwithin4dayswithcompletewatering.Ifthecontractorfailstodo

watering satisfactory corporation shall get it done at the risk and cost of the contractor with

orwithout giving any notice and the expenses incurred in doing so recovered from the

thelength. For each joint yarn shall be dipped in hot asphalt. The joint shall be properly cleaned

1:1 shall be forced into joints and chaucked completely by means of special cutting toolsuntil the

whole space is full. The mortar shall be sprayed around the collar joints so as

tocompletelyencasethejoint.

After the joints have thoroughly set, the Engineer or his Assistant may inspect the joints, and

ifhe has any doubt as to their soundness be may required the contractors to cut open and

clearaway the cement of any joint that he may select and to make good the same at their

expensesprovided that, unless some defect be found, they shall be required to open more than

one jointsin 18mt (60’) of pipe, though if defect be found the Engineer direct them to open as

many jointsas he may deem necessary, the joints made one day will not as a rule, be inspected

until thefollowingdayandthecementmayhassufficienttimetosetwellbeforebeingcoveredup.

Trenches shall not be filled until alignment and levels are examined by the Engineer or

hissubordinatesandthepermissionforrefillingisgranted.

The RCC pipes shall be manufacturers as per IS for B class pipes specifications using

bestmaterials first class workmanship as per IS 458/1971.and latest IS code for R.C.C. pipe line

thelengthforeachjointdipedisnotasphaltafterthejointhasbeenproperlycleaned&moistureand

Trenches shall not be filled in until the line has been tested and alignment and levels

Contractor shall be held responsible for any damage or defect to the pipe line in

satisfactoryworking of the same for 12months after it is put into commission, contractor must

Concrete must always be used fresh it shall be laid in layers as directed never exceeding

20kms. in thickness and be well and quicklyrammend with heavy rammers, until

mortarcreams up to surface. The surface must be kept damp during and after consolidation

& inlaying consecutive layer the lower coars should be well watered & mode lough be for

thenextisplaced.

(c) Brickworkwithcementmortar.

Brickshallbetablebricksofapprovedcleanconformingwiththespecificationaslaiddownin P.W.D.

hand book No.2 The brick shall be wellburnt and free from any defects shall be

gotapprovedbytheEnginurinchargebeforetheworkisstarted.

Cement to be used for mortar shall comply with I.S.S. & P.W.D. hand book

specificationscement mortar for the brick work shall be one parts of cement to six part of sand

every brick wellsoaked in water is required to be ladi in joints of cement mortar the thickness of

which shall notexceed paints of 1.25 cm If after removal of centering any open joints are founed

these shall bepointedimmedately.

Special care shall be taken to make the faces of brick work smooth brick work mar

betoothedorshallberackedbackincourse.

Allintradosofcursebeworkedfromcompetestricklymadetodimensionsandgrade.

Brick work in general shall be of first class workmanship and shall be excuted according

toplan working to the proper dimension & as directing by the officer in charge from the time to

timebricksshouldbethroughlyinwaterbeforeuse.AllbricksshallIhavetobecleanedwaterbeforelaying

cement mortar shall be prepared in special iron pans and mixed in quantites as

requiredusingmeasurs boxes for sand and cement bag of 1.25 cft. or 1 cft. as measured the

case maybe all materials shall be stacked on the site as not to obstruct tra fic in any way the

masonaryshould be constructed in proper workmanship like manner with joints plunb etc. to

conform withgeneral specification No.45 P.W.D hand book. The face work should be neatly

finished. Theworkshallbekeptwaterdforworkatleastafterdateof completion.

(d) C.C.channels.

Cement concrete for the inverts and channels of manholes shall consist of one parts

ofcement 2 parts of sand 4 part of aggregates of black trap metalof other approved material

ofsizesfrom 0.6to2.5cm.wellgradedasperinstructions.

Thework shall be as per P.W.D hand book specification No.20 as per general

instructions.Therateincludesallnecessarymaterualsmixinglayingandremainandwateringtheexpos

facestobefinishedwithneatcementasperinstructionthechannelshallbehalfroundandas

per drawing & instruction of Engineer in charge. proper bunching shall be provided at both of

(e)Cementplaster.

Cement plaster 15 M.M. shall be done using cement mortar of 1 part cement and 3 parts

ofsand in uniform thickness with surfaces truely in plumb. The work in general shall comply

withgeneralspecifi cations for )plaster no.64.P.W.D. hand book plastered surface shall kept

damp atleastforfortnight.

All internal surfaces of the manholes including soft to arch shall be provided with

Manholeshallbeprovidedateverychangeofalignment,gradientordiameterofsewer/storm water

drains, Bends and junctions in the sewer/drain shall be grouped together inmanhole as far as

possoble. The maximum distance between inspection chambers shall beabout 25 meters.

Where the diameter of sewer/drain is increased, the soffit of the pipe shall

befixedatthesamelevelandnecessaryslopegiventothechannelofmanhole/inspectionchamber.The

minimuminternalsizesofmanhole/inspectionchambershallbe aspertherespective item of work.

The manhole/inspection chambershall be constructed as

perthedetaileddrawingsandasdirectedbyEngineer.Thebedconcreteandthebrick

masonryshallbeconstructedofsuchthicknessasshownondrawing.Thebrickmasonryshallbeconstru

C.M. (1:5), plastered on both faces inside and out side with 15 mm cement plaster in C.M.

(1:3).The channel shall be semicircular in the bottom half and of diameter equal to the

sewer/drain.Above the horizontal diameter, the sides shall be extended vertically to the same

level as thecrown of the outgoing pipe and the top edge shall be suitable rounded off. The

branch channelsshall also be similarly constructed with respect to the benching out at their

junction with the mainchannel as appropriate fall suitable rounded off in the direction of flow in

the main channel

shallbegiven.Thechannelatthebottomofmanhole/inspectionchambershallbeplasteredwith

C.M. (1:3) and finished smooth. Rungs shall be provided in all manholes/inspection

chambersover 0.6 mtr in depth and shall be of cast iron conforming to IS:5455. These rungs

fixedstaggeredintwoverticalruns,300mmaparthorizontallyand300mmc/cvertically.Thetoprungshall

be 450 mm below the manhole/ inspection chamber cover and the lowest not more than300 mm

above the benching. The manhole/inspection chamber frame and cover shall be of castiron of

specified weight and shall conform to the requirements given in IS:1726. The covers andframes

shall be cleanly cast and they shall be free from air and sand holes and from clod shuts.They

shall be neatly dressed and carefully trimmed. All castings shall be free from voids

whetherduetoshrinkage,gasinclusionorothercauses.Coversshallhavearaisedchequereddesignont

he top surface to provide an adequered nonslip grip. Cover shall be capable of easy

openingandclosinganditshallbefittedintheframeinworkmanshiplikemanner.

Thecovershallbegastight and water tight. The size of covers specified shall be considered as the

internaldimensionsoftheframe.Coversandframesshallbecoatedwithablackbituminouscomposition.

The coating shall be smooth and tenaceous. The frame of manhole/inspectionchamber cover

shall be firmly embeded to correct alignment and level in cement concrete on thetop of the

Required level shall be achieved in brick work as specified including plaster, the thickness

The space around circular frame and covers shall be fully paved with c.c. (1:2:4)

asspecified and directed. The pavement shall be at least 8 mm (3”) wider than the outer most

edgeof the circular frame no pavement will be made of this pavement under the item of

cementconcrete.

The space to be paved around hydrant or sluice boxes shall be 1.6 m x 1.5 m (5’ x 5’)

inexternal measurement and in case if gas siphon or chamber 91 cm x 61 cm (3’ x 2’) the

longerdimensionbeingalongthedirectionofthemain.

In case of rectangular frame cover it shall paved as directed by Engineer with 1:2:4

surface, if a chemicalretarder has been applied to the form work, the surface shall be roughened

Raking of joints in case of masonry where necessary shall be allowed to dry out for

Forexternalplaster,theplasteringoperationshallbestartedfromtopfloorandcarrieddownwards. For

internal plaster, the plastering operations may be started wherever the buildingframe and

cladding work are ready and the temporary supporting ceiling resting on the wall

ApplicationsofPlaster:

Theplasterabout15x15cms.Shallbefirstappliedhorizontallyandverticallyat notmorethan2metre

intervals over the entire surface to serve as gauge. The surfaces of these gauges shall

betrulyinplane of the finished plastered surface. The mortar shall then be applied in

uniformsurface slightly more than the specified thickness, then brought to a true surface by

awoodenstraightedgereachingacrossthegaugeswithsmallupwardandsidewaysmovementata

time. Finally, the surface shall be finished off true with a trowel or wooden float according as

asmooth or a sandy granular texture is required. Excessive trowelling or overworking the

floatshall be avoided. All corners, arrises, angles and junctions be truly vertical or horizontal as

thecase may be and shall be carefully finished. Rounding or chamfering corners,

arrisesjunctionsetc.shallbecarriedoutwithpropertemplatestothesizerequired.

Cement plaster shall be used within half an hour after addition of water. Any mortar or

plasterwhichispartiallysetshallberejectedandremovedforthwithfromthe site:

In suspending the work at the end of the day, the plaster shall be left out clean to the line

bothhorizontally and vertically. When recommending the plaster, the edges of the old work shall

bescraped clean and wetted with cement putty before plaster is applied to the adjacent area

When both faces of all wall are plastered with same plaster,

orpointing on the side of frame for door, window etc. on which width or reveals is less than that

all are equal, deductions of 50% of area of opening on each face shall be made

PlacingofReinforcement:

Allreinforcingbarsshallbeaccuratelyplacedintheexactpositionshownonthedrawings, and

shall be securely held in position during placing of concrete by annealed bindingwire not less

than 1 mm in size and conforming to IS:280 and by using stays blocks or metalchairs, spacer,

metal hangers, supporting wires or other approved devices at sufficiently closeintervals. Bars

will not be allowed to sag between supports nor displaced during concreting orany other

operation over the work. All devices used for positioning shall be of non-corrodiblematerial.

Wooden and metal supports will not extend to the surface of concrete, except

whereshownonthedrawings,placingbarsonlayersoffreshlylaidconcreteastheworkprogressesforadj

usting bar spacing will not be allowed. Pieces of broken stone, brick or wooden blocks shallnot

be used. Layers of bars shall be separated by spacer bars, precast mortar blocks or

otherapproveddevices.

Reinforcement after being placed in position shall be maintained in a clean

conditionuntilcompletelyembeddedinconcrete.Specialcareshallbeexercisedtopreventanydisplace

mentofreinforcementinconcretealreadyplaced.

To protect reinforcement from corrosion, concrete cover shall be provided as

indicatedon the drawings. All bars protruding from concrete to which other bars are to be spliced

andwhich are likely to be exposed for an indefinite period shall be protected by a thick coat of

neatcement grout.

In the case of columns and walls, vertical bars shall be kept in normal position

withtimbertemplateshavingslotsaccuratelycutinforbarposition.Suchtemplatesshallberemovedafter

theconcretinghasprogresseduptoaleveljustbelowthem.

Barscrossingeachother,whererequired,shallbesecuredbybindingwire(annealed)ofsize not

less than 1 mm and conforming to IS;280 in such a manner that they do not slip overeach other

at the time of fixing and concreting. As far as possible, bars of full length shall beused. In case

this is not possible, overlapping of bars shall be done as directed by the CityEngineer, AMC,

Ahmedabad. When practicable, overlapping bars shall not touch each other, butbe kept apart by

25 mm or 1 ¼ times the maximum size of the coarse aggregates whichever isgreater, by

concrete between them. Where this is not feasible, overlapping bars shall be boundwith

annealed steel wire, not less than [1 mm thickness twisted tight in eight shape around

thelappedbars.Theoverlapsshallbestaggeredfordifferentbarsandlocatedatfixedlocationsonlyalong

thespanwhereneithershearnorbeingmomentismaximum.

the concrete isstill green. Use of dry cement or cement and sand mixture sprinkled on

this surface tostiffen the concrete or absorb excessive moisture shall not be permitted.

The cementslurry shall than be properly paste twice by means of iron flats, once, when

the slurry isapplied and the second time when cement starts setting and finished

smooth. Thesurface shall be marked with string or B.R.C. fabric jali to make the surface

non slipperyas and when directed. The junction of floors with wall plaster dado or

skirting shall berounded where so required upto 25 mm. radius. Flooring in lavatories
