Application of water repellent paint on the exposed concrete and brick surfaces of campus buildings, New Campus, IIM Ahmedabad.

Providing and applying silicon paint on exposed concrete and brick surfaces as per following procedure: i. Cleaning of surfaces by are blower to remove the dust from the surfaces. ii. Cleaning the surface using Silicon Carbide paper (Grit No. 100 or above) to remove the dirt and mould/algae/stains/mark, etc. iii. Washing the surface by spraying water to clean the residue. iv. if the dark spots remains on concrete/brick surfaces after cleaning using methods above, then they should be cleaned using chemical cleaning (liquid ammonia and non-ionic detergent in the ratio of 1:3) This will include application of chemical on the surface by brush, then rubbing it with silicon carbide paper of grit no. 100 or above and finally cleaning the surface with water. v. Application of silicon paint on the totally cleaned and dry surface. In case of unseasonal rains, the work will only be allowed once the surface gets totally dry. vi. Providing and applying by spray TWO coats (wet on wet, perpendicular to each other) of the SILRES® BS 290 of Wacker Make on the exposed concrete and/or brick surfaces as per manufacturer's specifications and as directed by the Engineer-in- Charge. Complete in all respect. Important Notes: (a) The repellent paint should not change the original colour of the concrete or brick surfaces. (b) The contractor shall furnish minimum 7 year Performance Guarantee for water/moisture repelling treated surfaces on the Rs 100.00 stamp paper. (c) The contractor must notify the EiC if in case he observes any surface defects (on exposed RCC members or the Brick Work) before starting the application of water repellant paint. (d) To prevent floors, doors, windows, glass, and pavement surfaces get stained by the droplets of the paint particles/droplets; such areas should be properly covered/masked using suitable methods. Any laxity in this regards will not be accepted. Contractor has to make good if any the damage done to the Institutes' Property.
