The cap shall be of SS as per IS:2171(latest ammendment) (ID 72.6 mm with ring type & spanner type and other cap having ID 86mm with ring type & spanner type). The cap shall have a ring at its top for working as a handle in carrying the extinguisher. It should provide smooth & free access for inserting all the four fingers with part of palm inside. All the edges in the cap must be smooth.At least 3 holes of not less than 3mm in dia each shall be drilled through the threaded portion of the cap to form vents. The centers of the vent holes shall be 6.5mm max from the exposed face of the cap joint washer. Cap shall be made of stainless steel-non magnetic (as per IS 6529). Cap shall be of forged construction with minimum thickness of 4mm. All caps shall be provided with two washers. A cartridge holder shall be provided inside the cap in such a way that the cartridge-seal piercing mechanism passes through its center and shall puncture the cartridge clean when the cartridge is fitted to this holder. The piercer shall be concentric type (pointed type). The threads shall be provided in the holder and shall correspond to the threads of gas cartridge. Portholes shall also be provided in the cartridge holder. A spring-loaded piercing mechanism shall be provided in the plunger for piercing the seal of the gas cartridge when fitted to the cartridge holder. The puncturing end shall be designed so as to ensure a clear opening in the cartridge seal when piercer is operated. A safety pin shall be provided to prevent accidental operation of the piercing mechanism. Safety pin shall be fixed to the cap with an adequate arrangement.

GENERAL: 1. CO2 Cartridges shall conform to BIS 4947 (Latest revision) and IS 4947 marked. 2. The gas cartridges consist of a cylindrical body, an outlet connection with sealing device (disc) as per figure 1 of BIS 4947. 3. The general shape of the body and essential dimensions shall be as per Figure -1 of BIS 4947. 4. Capacity of DCP Fire Extinguisher is 200gms (+10 gm/-0 gm) No negative tolerance is permitted. 5. It shall be filled with CO2 gas conforming to BIS 15222 (Latest revisions)in liquefied conditions and shall have maximum filling ratio of 0.667. 6. The CO2 , gas to be filled in shall be moisture free and 99 percent pure and shall conform to the requirement of IS 15222. Certificate to this effect shall be produced at the time of supply of material. B. Marking: Each cartridge shall be clearly and permanently marked with the following information by embossing or punching, near its neck : a. Name of the manufacturer or his recognized trade mark; b. Type of construction, sealing device and capacity; c. Gross mass of the charged cartridge; d. Mass of the empty cartridge. e. Year of manufacture. BIS certification mark. The CO2 Cartridges shall be marked with the BIS Standard Mark. C. FINISH : The inside and outside surface shall be smooth and the material section shall be uniform. Epoxy powder coating of 50 microns thickness shall be applied on external surface of the body. D. CAP : A protective cap shall be screwed over the threaded outlet connection so that threads shall not get damaged during transit and handling. E. PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE. The manufactures shall guarantee the design, material, workmanship and the performance of the unit for a period of 18 months from the date of supply. Any Mechanical defect, faulty workmanship or operational defects found during this period shall be rectified by the vendor without any extra cost of IOCL. F. Any damage and / or manufacturing defects to the supplied material will not be accepted. G. Vendor shall submit QAP for approval of IOCL. Pre-dispatch / Site inspection shall be done as per approved QAP and vendor shall extend necessary co- operation to facilitate inspection. H. TESTING, INSPECTION AND PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT : Prior to dispatch of the material from vendor's / manufacture's place, the following review , inspection and tests shall be carried out by the vendor to complete satisfaction of his authorized third party agency without any extra cost to IOCL.
