Note:-
(a) Exact quantity of binder to be used and shall be ascertained by design mix.
(b) The binder content in the mix shall be minimum 5.5% by weight of total mix. However, in case more than 5.5% of binder content is required as per design mix, the same shall be provided by the contractor at no extra cost to the department.
(c) Binder content and density testing equipment should be readily available at site for field tests.
(d) The exact bitumen content required shall be determined by the Marshall mix design procedure contained in the Asphalt Institute Manual MS-2 (Sixth Edition) as referred in clause 3.5.3 of IRC 111:2009.

| 8 | Material and labour for 25mm thick bitumen mastic road consisting of an intimate homogenous mixture of material filler, well graded fine and course aggregate with VG-40 grade bitumen in the range of 14 to 17 percenatage of total mix as per IS : 73:2006 or suitable grade confirming to IS : 702 1988 mixed and cooked at 170 C to 210 C in an approved type mechaniaclly agitated mastic cooker laid in temp between 175 C to 210 C spread uniformily by hand using wooden trowel and floats laid over tack coat of VG 40 grade bitumen confirming to IS : 73:2006 @ 5 Kg/10Sqm over prepared base all as per para 20.A .30 of SSR part-l 2009 and IRC : 107-1992. During mixing and cooking care shall be taken to ensure that contents in the cooker are at no time heated to a temparature excedding 210 C bitumen mastic after spreading and while still hot and in plastic condition shall be spread over with bitumen precoated fine grained hard stonechips/coarse aggregates of approved quality of 2.36 mm to 13.2mm size, fine aggregate 0.075mm to 2.36mm size and filler shall be limestone powder content of not less than 80 percentage by weight determined in accordence with IS : 1514 and pressed into the surface when the temperature of bitumen mastic in between 80 C and 100 C such precoated aggreagtes when laid should protrude 3mm to 4mm over the mastic surface of approved quality of 9.5mm to 13.20mm size @ 0.005m/10 Sqm and roller complete all as specified and directed. | 1,115 | Sqm | - | - |
