ii) The BESS shall ensure that the combined Solar PV and BESS output to the grid (injected grid
power at the 11 kV interconnection point) follows the Reference Target Power and remains within a
band of ±5 % of the Reference Target Power at any time instant, ensuring smooth power injection into
The Reference Target Power in this mode shall be the manual grid power set-point entered through
SCADA HMI or the set-point signal received from LDC/Energy Management Centre.
iii) The BESS operator shall be able to ramp up or ramp down the BESS power (up to the maximum
BESS MW rating) by providing a BESS power set-point to the EMS controller through the BESS
SCADA HMI. Once this mode is initiated, the BESS shall remain at the designated output (charge or
discharge) power level until terminated through manual intervention from BESS SCADA or until the
battery charging/discharging limits are reached.
iv) However, as per grid operator requirements or under special/emergency grid conditions, the BESS
shall also operate in Manual Mode for smoothing of Solar PV plant output intermittency at the 11 kV
grid interface. The detailed control logic for such operation shall be finalized during the detailed
engineering stage.
v) The Bidder shall consider all types of solar intermittency, including seasonal variations, at an
appropriate time scale in the BESS sizing and control design to ensure compliance with grid injection
requirements at the 11 kV point of interconnection.
2. VAR Support Mode
i . VAR Support Mode (BESS Only)
i) The BESS shall independently provide dynamic reactive power (VAR) support to the grid for voltage
regulation at the 11 kV point of interconnection, irrespective of Solar PV plant operation. The BESS
operator shall be able to provide reactive power (kVAR) or power factor (PF) set-point to the EMS/PCS
through the BESS SCADA HMI (manual mode). The BESS SCADA shall also have the facility to receive
