Servicing of 12 nos 20 men liferaft onboard ICGS Vikram

H-546: Annual servicing of 12 no 20 men life rafts are falling due for servicing on 26 Aug 22 (03 nos), 30 Aug 22 (03 nos), 12 Sep 22 (03 nos) and 14 Sep 22 (03 nos). Life rafts to be serviced. Inway job includes embarkation and disembarkation of life rafts from stowage position by using crane and transportation of life rafts. Copy of last servicing certificates (12 nos) is enclosed herewith. Details of life rafts are as follows:- (i) Life rafts serial nos. 201718198 to 201718209. (ii) Make: SHM Ship Care. (iii) Type: A-20(II), Capacity-20 men each, Pack- Solas ‘A’ The terms and condition for servicing of life rafts are as follows:- (i) The life rafts servicing agency shall have valid approval of DG Shipping. (ii) The personnel involved in life rafts servicing shall have valid certification issued by MMD/DG Shipping. (iii) Inspection by classification society (IRS)/ MMD surveyor shall be undertaken during each stage of survey and proper certification/ report shall be rendered. (iv) Renewal of emergency pack items are to be carried out in presence of CG rep and class surveyor. Manufacturing/ expiry date and batch/ lot number are to be checked and same details be reflected on service certificates. (v) Opening inspection verification of items being replaced, special test and class survey, if any being carried out to be informed to ships staff in advance for witnessing. (vi) Before packing of life rafts ships staff to be witnessed. (vii) The servicing agency shall comply with fire safety requirements and environmental standards. (viii) CO2 cylinder shall be refilled by MMD and gas explosive department approved agency only and certificate of agency shall be duly verified. (ix) Hydrostatic release unit to be overhauled during servicing and test certificate of the same to be obtained. (x) The servicing shall have adequate instruments and repairing tools and enough space with sufficient height to overturn the life raft floor seam (xi) Genuineness of pyrotechnics such as parachute rocket, hand flare and smoke float shall be verified by obtaining the manufacturer’s certificate from the service agency, and verified with OEM, if considered necessary. (xii) Food items in the emergency pack shall be inspected thoroughly for any damage, deficiencies, date of validity, etc. The shelf life of the food items shall be one year from the date of servicing. The food items shall be in compliance with IMO standards. (xiii) Breaking strength of painter and toeing rope which are linked together shall be verified for design load. (xiv) Quality assurance Plan (QAP) as per format is to be recorded as per instructions and duly signed QAP sheet is to be submitted alongwith log cards of the liferafts.
