(b) When each face of wall is provided with a different finish, deduction shall be made for that
side of frame for door, windows, etc. on which width of reveals is less than that of the other
side. Where widths of reveals on both faces of wall are equal, deduction of 50% of area of
opening on each face shall be made from total area of finish.
(c) When only one face of wall is treated and the other face is not treated, full deduction shall
be made if when width of reveal on the treated side is less than that on the untreated side, but
if the width of reveals is equal or more than on the untreated side neither deductions nor
additions to be made for reveals, jambs, soffits, sills etc.
3) In case of area of openings exceeding 3.0 sqm each, deduction shall be made for openings
but jambs, soffits shall be measured.
4) No deductions shall be made for attachment such as casing, conduits, pipe, electric wiring
and the like. Corrugated surfaces shall be measured flat as fixed and not girth. The quantities
measured shall be increased by the following percentage and the resultant shall be included
with the general areas:
(a) Corrugated steel sheets --------------------------------- 14%
(b) Corrugated A.C. Sheets -------------------------------- 20%
(c) Semi corrugated A.C. Sheets -------------------------- 10%
(d) Nainital pattern roof (Plain sheeting with rolls) ---- 10%
(e) Nainital pattern roof (with corrugated sheets) ----- 25%
Cornices and other wall/ceiling features, when they are picked out in a different finish/colour
shall be girthed and included in the general area.
The rate shall include the cost of all materials, labor, scaffolding, protective measures etc.
required for the above specified operation, for all floor , at any height, in any position. Priming
and Alkali resistant treatments, scrapping of surface washing etc. surface spoiled by smoke
soot, removal of oil and grease spots, treatment for infection with efflorescence moulds, moss,
fungi, algae and lichen and patch repairs to plaster wherever done shall not be paid extra. This
shall also include conveyance, delivery, handling, unloading, storing work etc.
The rate shall be for a unit of one square meter.
The Payment shall be made on square meter basis.

tools, scaffolding, safety gear, and hardware accessories required to complete the
installation as per architectural drawings and site instructions are included in the
2. Material Specifications:
All components must be fabricated exclusively from high-grade austenitic Stainless
Steel Grade SS 304 (containing a minimum of 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel) to
guarantee high corrosion resistance, long-term structural integrity, and stain-free
weathering in outdoor or semi-indoor environments.

16 Gauge (approx. 1.5 mm thickness), running continuously along the top profile of
the entire railing span.
Vertical Balusters (Posts): 38 mm diameter round pipe, manufactured in 16 Gauge
thickness, functioning as the primary vertical load-bearing structural supports.
Horizontal Infill Members: Three (3) parallel runs of 25 mm diameter round pipes,
manufactured in 16 Gauge thickness, positioned horizontally at uniform/equal vertical
intervals between the balusters to ensure safety and aesthetic appeal.
Interlinking & Fixing Elements: 18.75 mm diameter round pipe, manufactured in
16 Gauge thickness, utilized structurally as connectors, sleeves, or supporting
braces to tie and lock the horizontal infill pipes securely with the vertical balusters.

3. Workmanship & Execution Methodology :
Structural Anchoring into RCC Slab:
Holes of precise depth and diameter shall be core-drilled or drilled into the structural
RCC floor slab or staircase steps at exactly 0.9 meters centre-to-centre (c/c)
The 38 mm vertical balusters must be anchored plumb and securely into the RCC
using heavy-duty expansion bolts or structural chemical anchors to withstand lateral
push loads without swaying.
Base plates must be tightly secured, and matching floor cover shrouds must be slid
down to flawlessly conceal raw fixing points and anchor bolts.
Alignment & Height Maintenance:
The entire assembly must be meticulously plumbed, levelled, and aligned.
The vertical height from the finished floor level (FFL) to the top of the 50 mm handrail
must maintain a strict, uniform level of 90 cm (0.9 meters) throughout its entire
Fabrication & Welding:
All cutting, notching, and shaping of pipes must be executed cleanly using
mechanical cutters without deformation, burrs, or scorching.
All permanent joints, intersections, and frame connections must be welded using
Argon Arc TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding by certified welders to achieve
maximum structural fusion and strength without spatter.
Grinding & Surface Finishing:
Post-fabrication, all weld seams, joints, and connection points must be carefully
ground, dressed down, and buffed.
The entire system must be finished to a uniform uniform brush/matt or mirror polish
(as directed by the architect) to completely eradicate weld discoloration, leaving a
sleek, corrosion-resistant, architectural-grade finish.
4. Mode of Measurement & Payment :
Unit of Measurement: The finished stainless steel railing work shall be measured
and paid for in Running Meters (RMT).
Method of Measurement: Measurements will be taken along the true centreline of
the top 50 mm handrail from end to end, including all straight runs, raked sections
(staircases), and standard profile changes.
Inclusions in Rate: The unit rate quoted shall be fully inclusive of dismantling
existing works, cost of all SS 304 raw materials (handrail, balusters, horizontal pipes,
and fixing pipes), fabrication, TIG welding, structural anchoring hardware, base
covers, grinding, polishing, wastage, transportation, scaffolding, and all incidental
charges required to complete the job to the entire satisfaction of the Engineer-in-
Charge. No separate or extra measurements or payments will be entertained for
corner joints, structural bends, or vertical post fixings.
