SOIL INVESTIGATION, ANALYSIS OF SOIL PROFILE AND DIGITALIZED TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEY OF LAND AT AF STN PALAM UNDER GE P AF PALAM DELHI CANTT

Soil investigation for Hangar and Annexes Building, other buildings and external services complete all as specified and directed by the Engg-in-Charge/Garrison Engineer. The scope of work comprises as under :- (a) Construction 150 MM diameter bores of depth 0 to 15 meter according to IS 1892-1988 and IS-1892-1979. (b) Conduction standard penetration test (S.P.T) as per IS-2131-1981. The testing shall be made at every change in strata or at intervals of not more than 1.5 mtr whichever is less. The test may be made at least intervals if specified or considered necessary as per 3.31 of IS-2131-1981. (c) Collection of undisturbed soil samples at an interval of 1.35 mtr or change of strata. (d) Conduction of laboratory tests on distrubed/ undisturbed soil samples as per project requirement after completion of boring, as given below :- (i) Sieve analysis. (ii) Plasticity index. (iii) Specific gravity. (iv) Water Content. (v) Particle size analysis. (vi) Bulk and dry density. (vii) Atterberg limit. (viii) Harmful salt or Organic matter if any. (ix) Direct shear test (in case of sandy soil). (x) Unconfined un-drained test (in case of clayey soil). (xi) Consolidation test (for saturated soil). (xii) C Value. (xiii) Differential free swell test in case of expansive soil(xiv) Unconfined compressive strength of rock (in case of rocky strata). (xv) Determination of tensile/ shear strength of rock (in case of rocky strata).

Cont/- The firm shall submit the soil investigation completely covering the following:- (a) Bore log chart showing depth of soil strata. (b) Ground water table. (c) Probable maximum and different settlement. (d) Safe bearing capacity based on shear and settlement.(e) Recommendation for type and depth of foundation. NOTE :- (a) The location of bldg/ bores shall be given by GE. (b) The soil report shall be in 3 parts i.e tender I, II and III combined.

All as per item No 1.01 here-in-before but depth of bore hole 0 to 10 Meter complete all as specified and directed by the Engg-in-Charge/ Garrison Engineer.

Determination of 'K' value of subgrade at different location as shown on ground complete all as specified and directed by the Engg-in-Charge/Garrison Engineer and as per latest edition of relevant IS Code including submission of test report.

Carrying out complete Digitalized topographical survey of land showing all existing features boundaries, building, carriage way, Foothpath, drain, manhole, gate valves, storm water lines. G.I/ C.I lines on ground, trees or area covered under trees (where marking of individual tree is not possible), electric and telephone poles, nallah, height of H.T lines, pylons, over head water tanks est. taking levels at grid 2 m x 2 m using total electronic station by assumed northing and easting including preparation of contour plan at 1.0 meter contour interval and fixing temporary benchmark and marking them on ground with paint as required, calculation of area with standard surveying software program, plotting on Auto CAD to the suitable scale and supply of three colored drawings alongwith C.D. ( 32 acre for Tarmac + 4 acre for Hangar) complete all as specified and directed by the Engg-in-Charge/Garrison Engineer:- (a) The instrument to be shifted after every 30 m interval. (b) The total station instrument should have least count of 1" to 2". (c) The BM to be established every 30m so that the instrument may be placed in between the BM and the checking of level be done from both the BM. (d) The survey report should start from one point and it should be end at the same point where it had started. (e) The survey report to incl contour map, drainage pattern, link taxi, dispersal, shoulder, any operational building and blast pen. (f) The grid for pavement facilities to be of 2m x 2m and the grid for shoulder and remaining air field to be of 10m x 10m. (g) All the level should have reference to ARP of the Air Field area. (h) Suggested drainage pattern to be marked for the area on map/ sketch as per direction of GE and considering the existing facilities in the vicinity of site.

Soil profile to be carried out for entire 36 acre area land and soil horizon for bore hole upto depth 0 m to 03 meter. i) Visual inspection of area alongwith geological history and inspection of pits/trenches should be carried out and a site plan to be submit showing different soil strata, soil layer and type of soil. ii) Bore hole diagram showing arrangement of different layers of the soil by collecting samples at the depth of every 30 cm to establish the soil profile by conducting grain size analysis. iii) Testing of samples to determine the physical properties of the various soil materials with respect to in place density and subgrade support. iv) Boring Log : A graphic log of soil conditions can be of great value in assessing subgrade conditions. It is recommended that the graphic log be developed, which summarizes the results of the soil explorations. The graphic log should include :- (a) Location. (b) Date performed. (c) Type of exploration. (d) Surface elevation. (e) Depth of materials. (f) Sample identification numbers. (g) Classification. (h) Water table. (j) Standard penetration test (SPT).

General Notes (For Srl item No.01 to 07) :- (a) Soil investigation to be carried out strictly as per the guidance circulated vide E-in-C's Br (E2 Wks) letter No 95610/SEMT/E2 Plg (Pav) dt 24 Jan 2014 under supervision of Engr-in-Charge as detailed by GE. (b) The detailed report to be submitted alongwith detailed topographic maps, photographs and marked sketches for the location at which 'k' value test/soil profile tests are conducted. (c) The land where soil investigation, soil profile tests and topographic survey is to be conducted is highly restricted area of IAF/DIAL. Entry into premises will be controlled (Time specific) & based on obtianing work permit from IAF/DIAL. (d) Report needs to be submitted on priority i.e as soon as possible (with in the stipulated time frame of the consultancy agreement). (e) All sampling sites/bore holes/k value locations etc to be marked on a sketch to scale and in relation to existing land marks. The sketch, giving bores hole Nos, correlated with the soil report and detailed profile to be submitted in 10 Nos ink signed copies of all the reports to be submitted as per the log chart forming part of the tender document as Appx 'A'. (f) If any filled up area is encountered at site during soil investigation than all soil investigation test must be carried out on the natural/original ground level and no extra payment shall be made on this account.
