The Client at their Discretion may appoint Third Party Inspectors (TPI) and / Project Management
Consultants (PMC) for Betterment of the Project. The Bidders / Bidders are Hereby Informed that
they shall be Responsible for following the Instruction given by this Agency / Agencies through out
the Project. If any Discrepancy in the Testing Methodology arises, the Method / Practices
Suggested by these Agencies shall be Abiding to the Bidders.
Conditional tenders will not be accepted. Municipal Commissioner reserves the rights to reject any
or all the tenders in Parts or Full without assigning any reasons Whatsoever or to Split the Tender

( A ) INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS (ITB)
1. Procedure for Submission of Tender
a).The Bidder should quote the price bid in e- tender form before last date of online submission as per
N.I.T and all other details as asked in the tender.
b).The bidder shall submit the following Tender documents physically in hard copy in two separate
envelope (marked as “original” and other marked as “Duplicate”) in schedule time by RPAD/
Speed Post/ Hand Delivery in duplicate. This envelope shall be sealed in an outer envelope. The
Bid envelopes shall be marked as follows:-

Projects for which incomplete information has been provided will not be considered for

2. Assessment of Submission
2.1The Employer will open the physically submitted document of all the bids received for the
package (except those received late) containing the sealed Tender volume and other enclosures
then announce the names of bidders in the presence of bidders or their representatives who
choose to attend on the date and time mentioned in the IFB. In the event of specified date of bid
opening being declared as a holiday for the Employer, the Tender will be opened at the
appointed time and location on the next working day.
2.2 In Physical submission, Bidders detailed and tender fee, E.M.D. shall be opened first. The
Employer at the opening will announce bidder’s names, , the presence/or absence of EMD, the
amount and validity of EMD furnished with each bid, is valid registration and such other
details, as the Employer may consider appropriate.
2.3 The Employer will determine whether the bid is accompanied by the required EMD.
2.4 If the EMD furnished does not conform to the amount and validity period as specified in the
Invitation for Bid and has not been furnished in the form, the bid shall be rejected by the
Employer as non-responsive and the Tender volume will be returned to the bidder.
2.5 Subject to confirmation of the EMD by the issuing bank, the Tender volume accompanied with
valid EMD will be taken up for further evaluation. In case, the Bank does not confirm the
EMD, the bid shall be rejected as non-responsive and no further evaluation carried out.
2.6 The tender volume will further be examined to determine whether the bid has been properly
signed, meets the eligibility and qualification criteria, has the required available bid capacity, is
accompanied by the requisite certificates, undertaking and other relevant information specified
in the bid documents and is substantially responsive to the requirement of the bidding
documents and provides any clarification for ascertaining the correctness of the
information/details.
2.7 The Employer shall prepare besides the record of bid opening, minutes of the Bid opening,

2.8 The bidders or their representatives who are present shall sign attendance sheet evidencing their

4. Procedure for Tender Opening
Received copies of tender in physical form with in schedule time, will be open on schedule date
and time. In the event of specified date of bid opening being declared bidders who qualify the
criteria then bidder bid will be considered for opening of price bid.(Following clause no. 5 of
5.1 The Employer will award the Contract to the bidder whose bid has been determined to be
substantially responsive to the bidding documents and who has offered the lowest Evaluated
Bid Price, provided that such bidder has been determined to be (i) eligible in accordance with
the provisions of Clause 3(General Terms and Condition); and (ii) qualified in accordance with
the provisions of Clause 5(General Terms and Condition).
6. Notification of Award
6.1 Prior to expiration of the period of bid validity prescribed by the Employer, the Employer will
notify the successful bidder by cable/fax and confirmed by registered letter that his bid has been
accepted. This letter shall name the sum which the Employer will pay the Contractor in
consideration of the execution, completion and maintenance of the Works by the Contractor as
prescribed by the Contract.
6.2 The notification of award will constitute the formation of the Contract.
7.Asper City Engineer Circular (WRM) no. 6 2011/12 DT: 24/06/2011. A successful Bidder
has to deposit security deposit / Bank Guarantee with in 15 days after receiving letter of
Indent. Time limit of work will commence from the date of issue of work order.
8. Clarification of Bids
8.1 To assist in the examination, evaluation and comparison of bids, the Employer may, at his
discretion, ask any bidder for authentication the correctness of the information/details furnished
by him in his bid. Such request by the Employer and the response by bidder shall be in writing
or by cable/fax.
8.2 Subject to above clause, no bidders shall contact the Employer on any matter relating to his bid
from the time of bid opening to the time contract is awarded.
8.3 Any effort by the bidder to influence the Employer in the Employer’s bid evaluation, bid
comparison or contract award decisions may result in the rejection of his bid.
9.1 Information relating to the examination, clarification, evaluation and comparison of bids and
recommendations for the award of a contract shall not be disclosed to bidders or any other
persons not officially concerned with such process until the award to the successful bidder has
been announced. Any effort by a bidder to influence the Employer's processing of bids or award
decisions may result in the rejection of his bid.
10.1 The bidder is advised to visit and examine the Site of Works and its surroundings and obtain
for itself on its own responsibility all information that may be necessary for preparing the bid
and entering into a contract for construction of the Works. The costs of visiting the Site shall be
at the bidder’s own expense.
10.2 The bidder and any of its personnel or agents will be granted permission by the Employer to
enter its premises and lands for the purpose of such inspection, but only upon the express
condition that the bidder, its personnel and agents, will release and indemnify the Employer
and its personnel and agents from and against all liability in respect thereof and will be
responsible for death or personal injury, loss of or damage to property and any other loss,
damage, costs and expenses incurred as a result of the inspection.

( B ) GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. Scope of Bid
1.1 The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation hereinafter called "the Employer" invites Tender
document for the construction of works (as defined in these documents, hereinafter referred to as
"the Works") detailed in the table given in the IFB.
1.2 The Works consist of:

2. Source of Funds
2.1 The expenditure on these Works will be met by AHMEDABAD MUNICIPAL

3.1 This invitation for bids is open to bidders who has necessary bid capacity and who meet the
following requirements:
A bidder shall not be under a declaration of ineligibility for corrupt or fraudulent practice.
The bidders shall have a registration with State PWD, and/or CPWD for Required class
and or equivalent with specialization in road works. If contractor is not registered with
AMC in the relevant class, on award of contract he shall be required to register himself with
AMC within 3 month's time.
Bidders shall provide such evidence of their continued eligibility satisfactory to the Employer, as
the Employer shall reasonably request.
4. Eligible Material, Equipment and Services
4.1 At the Employer's request, the bidder having offered the lowest evaluated financial bid may be
required to provide evidence of the origin of materials, equipment, and services to the satisfaction
of the Employer.
4.2 For purposes of Sub Clause 4.1, "origin" means the place where the materials are mined,
grown, produced or manufactured; similarly for equipments and from where the services are

5.3 Disqualification
Even though the Bidders may meet the above criteria, they are subject to be disqualified for any of
the following reasons:
a) Misleading or false representation in the forms, statements and attachments submitted and
included in document.
b) Record of poor performance such as abandoning the work, rescinding of contract for which the
reasons are attributable to the non-performance of the contractor, consistent history of litigation
awarded against the applicant or financial failure due to bankruptcy.
c) Has been identified by the Employer as poor performer in implementation of ongoing AMC

9.1. Unless stated otherwise in the bidding documents, the Contract shall be for the whole works as
described in bidding documents, based on the percentage rate amount in the Bill of Quantities
submitted online by the bidder.

10. Bid Validity
10.1 Bids shall remain valid as per Instruction to Bidders (ITB) after that deadline date for bid
submission specified in Clause. The Employer as non-responsive shall reject a bid valid for a
shorter period.
10.2 In exceptional circumstances, prior to expiry of the original bid validity period, the Employer
may request the bidders to extend the period of validity for a specified additional period. The
request and the responses thereto shall be made in writing or by fax. A bidder may refuse the
request without forfeiting his bid security. A bidder agreeing to the request will not be
required or permitted to modify his bid but will be required to extend the validity of his Bid
Security for the period of the extension, and in compliance with Clause 2 ( Financial Terms
& Conditions) in all respects.
11. Format and Signing of Bid
11.1 The bidder shall prepare two copies of the documents comprising the bid as described in
Instructions to Bidders.
11.2 The bid shall be typed or written in indelible ink and shall be signed by a person or persons
duly authorized to sign on behalf of the bidder.
11.3 The bid shall contain no alterations, omissions or additions, except those to comply with
instructions issued by the Employer, or as necessary to correct errors made by the bidder, in
which case the person or persons signing the bid shall initial all such corrections.
11.4 All witnesses and sureties shall be persons of status and probity and their full names,
Occupations and addresses shall be printed below their signatures.
12. Deadline for Submission of Bids
Bids must be received by the Employer at the address specified above not later than the time and
date specified in the IFB.
Any bid received by the Employer after the deadline for submission of bids will be returned
unopened to the bidder.
14. Signing of Agreement
At the same time that the Employer notifies the successful bidder that his bid has been accepted, the
Employer will direct him to submit the Performance Security and attend the Employer's office on a
date determined by the Employer for signing the Form of Agreement.
15. The selection process will lay high emphasis on the ability and competency of contractors to do
high quality work within the given time schedule.
16. The onus of providing, all necessary company / project related information, in appropriate
manner and medium, so as to demonstrate the competency of the bidder and to allow proper
evaluation, will rest entirely on the Bidder.
17. All clause shall be operative from the date of issue of work order and up to the expiry of
original and extended time limit.
18. Legal Condition:-
Corrupt or Fraudulent Practices
The Employer will reject a proposal for award if he determines that the Bidder recommended
for award has engaged in corrupt or fraudulent practices in competing for the contract in
question. The Employer will declare the firm ineligible, either indefinitely or for a stated period
of time, to be awarded a contract by AHMEDABAD MUNICIPAL CORPORATION if it at
any time determines that the firm has engaged in corrupt or fraudulent practices in competing
for the contract, or during execution.
“corrupt practice” means behavior on the part of officials in the public or private
sectors by which they improperly and unlawfully enrich themselves and/or those close
to them, or induce others to do so, by misusing the position in which they are placed,
and it includes the offering, giving, receiving, or soliciting of anything of value to
influence the action of any such official in the procurement process or in contract
“fraudulent practice” means a misrepresentation of facts in order to influence a
Procurement process or the execution of a contract to the detriment of the Borrower,
and includes collusive practice among bidders (prior to or after bid submission)
designed to establish bid prices at artificial non-competitive levels and to deprive the
Borrower of the benefits of free and open competition.
Municipal Commissioner reserves the rights to reduce/increase the scope of work and contract
without assigning any reason thereof.
If Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is convinced that the Bidder has resorted to material
misrepresentation or provided fraudulent information / statement, the said Bidder will be liable
for disqualification / rejection at any stage.
Proof for fulfillment of eligibility criteria should be submitted along with Tender volume. If the
Tender volume is submitted without valid documents and without proof of eligibility criteria it
will be rejected.
Those who do not meet with the eligibility criteria need not submit the Tender document.
Tenders, which do not fulfill all or any of condition or are submitted incomplete in any respect
or are conditional tenders, will be rejected.
Contractor shall be responsible to obey all Labour Laws, Environmental and Safety Laws.(the
existing laws as well as framed from time to time). Any penalties laid due to violation of such
laws shall be directly deducted from the contractor's outstanding.
19. Administrative Conditions:-
Safety and Signage
Contractor has to arrange for the complete safety of the persons working for project, users of
the road i.e. public and vehicles also. All the arrangements of traffic drums, metal / fiber cones,
traffic blinkers, traffic signs as per design, safety tapes etc. to be arranged at site. Necessary
florescent marking on traffic signs to be provided so that it should be visible at night. During
night working hours safety in charge personnel shall be provided with florescent jackets.
The Contractor has to make all the necessary arrangements for making all the temporary
diversions for proper working at site Including traffic signages, safety cones, traffic
blinkers, barricading tapes, red and green flags etc for making easy smooth and safe
conditions for the traffic. The Contractor shall and must provide above at his own cost.
Liaison with local authority for electrical connections for the AMC
The contractor is responsible for liaison with local authority for change in supply connection or
new connection on behalf of AMC. It includes filling the necessary application to power Supply
Company, follow up and getting the supply, filling the necessary test reports to the power
supply company. All official fees Including security deposits and other expenses shall be of
initially paid by the contractor.
Contractor shall not sub-let the work without permission of the authority.

( C ) FINANCIAL CONDITION
1. Cost and Currencies of Bidding
The bidder shall bear all costs associated with the preparation and submission of his bid and the
Employer will in no case be responsible or liable for those costs.
Currencies of Bid and Payment
The rates and the prices shall be quoted by the bidder entirely in Indian Rupees
All payments Including advances, if any, shall be made in Indian Rupees.
2.Earnest Money Deposit :-
2.1 Bank guarantees (and other instruments having fixed validity) issued as surety for the bid shall
be valid for 28 days beyond the validity of the bid.
2.2 The EMD of the unsuccessful bidders, except for L1, L2 and L3 bidders, will be returned as
promptly as possible as but not later than 28 days after the expiration of the period of bid validity.
2.3 The EMD of the successful bidder, along with second and third lowest tenders, will be returned
when the bidder has furnished the required performance security and signed

for any other cause as of the date 28 days prior to the deadline for submission of the bids, shall
be included in the rates and prices and the total bid price submitted by the bidder and the
evaluation and comparison of bids by the Employer shall be made accordingly.
10. Qualification of the Bidder
10.1 Experience of bidder
Experience of having successfully completed similar works during last 7 years ending last
day of month previous to the one in which applications are invited should be either of the

GENERAL CONDITION
1. After sanction of tender a Letter of Intent shall be issued to contractor and in response to
that letter, contractor shall have to arrange for Security Deposit within 15 days. If S.D is
given within 10days of issuance of Letter of Intent, time limit shall be counted from that
date. If S.D is given after 15 days of issuance of letter of intent, contractor shall be finned
Rs. 200/- per day of delay and shall be deducted from contractor’s bill. In this case time
limit shall start latest by the 10th day of letter of intent, Security Deposit of 5% of tender
amount shall be deposited by pay order, demand draft, . of nationalized bank /scheduled

and recover the amount for such removal work from contractor bill. In this case contractor
shall not be entitled for compensation.
17. Cost of testing of material shall be done by the contractor. He shall provide vehicle for
taking material/staff from site to testing laboratory/ manufacturing site and contractor shall
be bear the cost of transportation of staff and material.
18. Contractor shall work as per labour Act. Contractor shall not be given any payment if
labour act rules are not followed or insurance of labour is not taken for work

obstruction to any one in any way

shall responsible for police complains, compensation etc AMC staff shall not be held
responsible for contractors negligency.
25. If instructed by AMC officials, contractor shall have to keep daily progress register and get
is signed by Ass. city Engineer. Contractor shall maintain record of daily No. of labours,
employed, work done, rectification work carried out by contractor after Eng.-in-charge
inspection & the compliance of the same. If such rectification work is not done by
contractor within 24 days the contractor shall be finned Rs. 250/- day of delay & shall be
recovered from the contractors bill
26. Contractor is not entitled for any type of compensation or right for the cancellation of tender
or tender items by any means.
27. If work is not completed within specified time limit penalty shall be recovered from bills as
per tender condition.
28. Deduction from bills shall be done as per rules prevailing or the rules which shall come in
to force, by State or Central Govt.
29. 1% amount shall be deducted for labour welfare fund as per state Govt order.
30. Quantity in item is tentative. It is likely to be change.(increase or decrease) as per site

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
SPECIFICATIONS OF MATERIALS
1.1. Water shall not be salty or brackish and shall be clean, reasonably clear and free
objectionable quantities of silt and traces of oil and injurious alkalis, salts, organic matter
and other deleterious material which will either weaken the mortar or concrete or cause
efflorescence or attack the steel in R.C.C Container for transport, storage and handling of
water shall be clean. Water shall conform to the standards specified in I.S.456-1978.
1.2. If required by the Engineer-in-charge it shall be tested by comparison with distilled water.
Comparison shall be made by means of standard cement tests for soundness, time of setting
and mortar strength as specified in I.S.269-1976. Any indication of unsoundness, change in
time of setting by 30 minutes or more or decrease of more than 10 per cent in strength of
mortar prepared with water sample when compared with the results obtained with mortar
prepared with distilled water shall be sufficient cause for rejection of water under test.
1.3. Water for curing mortar, concrete or masonry should not be too acidic or too alkaline. It
shall be free of elements which significantly affect the hydration reaction or otherwise
interfere with the hardening of concrete during curing or those which produce objectionable
stains or other unsightly deposits on concrete or mortar surfaces.
1.4. Hard and bitter water shall not be used for curing.
1.5. Portable water will be generally found suitable for curing mortar or concrete.
3.1 Cement shall be ordinary Portland slag cement as per I.S. 269-1976 or Portland slag cement
as per I.S. 455-1976.

8.1. Grit shall consist of crushed or broken stone and be hard strong, dense, durable, clean, of
proper gradation and free from skin or coating likely to prevent adhesion of mortar Grit

mixed material to a consistency of stiff paste. Thoroughly wetted sand shall then be added
evenly and the mixture ground for another 180 revolutions.
10.3. Storage : 10.4.1 Mortar shall always be kept damp, protected form sum and rain till used up
, covering it by tarpaulin or open sheds.
10.4. Use : 10.5.1 All mortar shall be used as soon as possible after grinding it should be used on
the day on which it is prepared. But in no case mortar made earlier than 36 hours shall be
permitted for use.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
General Technical Specification Section
Following technical specifications shall be applicable to the relevant items of BOQ
Item No. 1,2,3,4 :- Excavation for foundation upto 1.5 m depth including sorting out and stacking of
useful materials and disposing off the excavated stuff upto 50 Meter lead.(B) Dense or Hard soil (R&B
Ahmedabad city SOR 2023-24 item code:-4B001) General :
Any soil which generally yields to the application of ackaxes and shoves, phawaras rakes or any
such ordinary excavating implement or organic soil, gravel silt, sand turfloam, clay, peat
etc., fall under this category.
Clearing the site :
The site on which the structure is to be built shall be cleared and all obstructions, loose stone,
materials and rubbish of all kind, bush, wood and trees shall be removed as directed. The
materials so obtained shall be property of the Government and be conveyed and stacked
as directed. within 50 M. lead. The roots of the trees coming in the sides shall be cut and
coated with a hot asphalt.
The rate of site clearance is deemed to be included in the rate of earth work for which no extra will

assume full responsibility for alignment, elevation and dimension of each and all parts of
the work. Contractor shall supply laborers, materials, etc. required for setting out the

The excavation in foundation shall be carried out in true line and level and shall have the width
and depth as shown in the drawings or as directed. The contractor shall do the necessary
shoring and shutting or providing necessary slopes to a safe angle, at his own-cost. The
payment for such precautionary measures shall be paid separately if not specified. The
bottom of the excavated area shall be 1 evened both longitudinally and transversely. as
directed by removing and watering as required. No earth filling will be allowed for bringing
it to level, if mistake or any other reason excavation is made. deeper or wider that shown
on the plan or directed. The extra depth or width shall be made up with concrete of same
proportion as specified for the foundation concrete at the cost of the contractor. The
excavation up to 1.5 m. depth shall be measured under this item.
Disposal of the excavated stud :
The excavated stuff of the selected type shall be used in filling the trenches and plinth or leveling
the ground in layer Including ramming and watering etc.
The balance of the excavated quantity shall be removed by the contractor from the site of work to
a place as directed with lead upped 50 M. and all lift.
Measurement shall be given on Cmt. basis.
Filling available excavated earth (excluding rock) in trenches, plinth, sides of foundations etc. in layers
not exceeding 20 cm. in depth, consolidating each deposited layer by ramming and watering etc.

The refilling will generally refer to refilling of trenches upto GL with excavated
stuff or selected soil brought from outside if required.
2.0 FILLING MATERIAL
Filling materials may be either excavated stuff on the selected soil, if required, if
excavated stuff in any section of pipe line is not suitable for refilling in the trenches
as per the opinion of Engineer-in-charge, the contractor shall have to bring the
material from outside without any extra cost.
The contractor shall doe refilling in a systematic manner. Each layer of 15 cms thickness
shall be well watered and compacted before the upper layer is laid, till the final
level is reached to form a thoroughly compacted base.
Trenches for line shall be back filled after the pipe line is laid and engineer in charge has
permitted for filling. The refilling shall be done upto 30 cm above the pipe except
the joint portion. The remaining portion of trench to be refilled after completion the
hydraulic testing of pipe line.
Refilling on top of pipe shall be carried out carefully with the excavated soft stuff. The
filling shall be raised 250 mm above G.L for settlement.
The contractor shall be fully responsible for any settlement after passing of time or during
monsoon and the same shall be refilled with soil brought from outside if necessary
without any extra cost.
The process of refilling in 15 cm. Layers including watering, ramming etc. shall be carried
out in such a way as not to damage the pipe line or foundation, footing, masonry
already laid or built up.
Surplus excavated stuff shall be disposed of within radious of 3 Km. As directed by
Engineer in charge.

All the surplus earth etc. shall be carried away immediately from the site of work to a place

convenience. The corporation shall carry out the work by any other agency at the
contractor’s risk and cost. If the instructions are not completed within 7 days from the date
of order to cart the surplus materials and clear the site, the said work shall be carried out by
the Municipal Corporation at the risk and cost of the contractor and no claim or dispute
shall be entertained in this respect.
If the filling in trenches after settlement of the earth filling in trenches is to be done and the
same shall be carried out by the contractor without asking any extra rate. The contractor
shall have to cart the surplus earth after the trenches we will watered and refilled with the
sand. The rate of carting including carting of brickbats, metal, rubble vegetable and
garbage, if necessary to clear the road surface.

that the concrete mix shall be designed from preliminary tests, the proportioning of cement

production to ensure that the required work cube strength is attained and maintained. The
controlled concrete shall be in grades of M-100, M-150, M-200, M-250, M-300, M-350, &
M-400, with prefix controlled added to it. The letter ‘M’ refers to mix and numbers specify
28 days works cube compressive strength of 150 mm. cubes of the mix expressed in
2.2 The porportion of cement, sand and coarse aggregates shall be determined by weight, the
weight batch machine shall be used for maintaining proper control over the porportion of
aggregates as per mix design.
3.0. Workmanship :
3.1. The proportions for ingradients chosen shall be such that concrete has adequate workability
for conditions prevailing on the work in question and can be properly compacted with
means available except where it can be shown to the satisfaction of the Engineer-in-charge,
that the supply of properly graded aggregate of uniform quality can be maintained till the
completion of work. Grading of aggregate shall be controlled by obtaining the coarse
aggregates, in different sizes and beingint hem in the right proportions as required.
Aggregate of different sizes shall be stocked in separate stock piles. The required quantity of
material shall be stock piled several hours, preferably a day before use. The grading of
coarse and fine aggregate shall be checked as frequently as possible, the frequency for a
given job being determined by the Engineer-in-charge to ensure that the suppliers are
maintaining the uniform grading as approved for samples used in the preliminary tests.
3.2. In porportioning concrete, the quantity of both cement and aggregate shall be determined
by weight. Where the weight of cement is determined by accepting the maker’s weight per
bag a reasonable number of bags shall be weighted separately to check the net weight.
Where cement is weighted frombulk stocks at site and not by bags, it shall be weighted
separately from the aggregates. Water shall either be measured by volume in calibarated
tanks or weighed. All measuring equipments shall be maintained in clean, and serviceable
condition. Their accuracy shall be periodically checked.
3.3. It is most important to keep the specified water cement ratio constant and at its correct
value. To this end, moisture content in both fine and coarse aggregates shall be determined
by the Engineer-in-charge, according to the weather conditions. The amount of mixing
water shall then be adjusted to compensate for variations in the moisture content. For
determination of moisture, content in the aggregates, I.S. 2389 (Part-III) shall be referred to.
Suitable adjustments also be made in the weights of aggregates due to variation in their
moisture content. Minimum quantity of cement used in concrete shall not be less than
Kg./M 3 in plain concrete and not less than 250 Kg/M3 in reinforced concrete.
4.0. Mode of measurement and payment:
4.1. The relevant specifications item No, 5.4.1. shall be followed except that the controller
concrete R.C.C. work for work as specified in item shall be measured under this item. The
rate excludes cost of form work.

M-18. Mild Steel Bars
18.1. Mild steel bars reinforcement for R.C C. work shall conform to I.S. 432 (Part -II)
1966 and shall be of tested quality. It shall also comply with relevant part of I.S. 456-1978.
18.2. All the reinforcement shall be clean and free from dirt, paint, grease, mill scale or
loose or thick rust at the time of placing
18.3. For the purpose of payment, the bar shall be measured correct up to 10 mm. length
and weight payable worked out at the rate specified below:

M-19. High Yield Strength Steel Deformed Bars
19.1. High yield strength steel deformed bars shall be either cold twisted other rolled and
shall conform to I.S. 1786-1966 and I.S. 1139-1966 respectively.
19.2. Other provisions and requirements shall conform to specification No. M-18 for Mild
M-20. High Tensile Steel Wires
20.1. The high tensile wires for use in pre stressed concrete work shall conform to
20.2. The tensile strength of the high tensile steel bars shall be as specified in the
item. In absence of the given strength the minimum strength shall be taken as per Para
6-1 of the I.S. 1785-1962. Testing shall be done as per I.S. requirements.
20.3. The high tensile steel shall be free from loose mill scale, rust, oil, grease, or
any other harmful matter. Cleaning of steel bars may be carried out by immersion in
solvent solution, wire brushing or passing through a pressure box containing

M-21. Mild Steel Binding Wire
21.1. The mild steel wire shall be of 1.63 mm. or 1.22 mrn. (16 to 18 gauge) diameter and
shall conform to I.S. 280-1972.
21.2. The use of black wire will be permitted for binding rein for cement bars. It shall be free
from rust oil paint, grease loose mill scale or any other undesirable coating which may
prevent adhesion of cement mortar

The work shall consist of furnishing and placing reinforcement to the shape and dimensions
shown as on the drawing or as directed. Steel shall be clean and free from rust and loose
mill scale at the time of fixing in position and subsequent concreting. Reinforcement steel
shall conform accurate to the dimensions, given in the bar bending schedules shown on
relevant drawing. Bars shall bent cold to specified shape and dimensions or as directed or as
directed. Using proper bar bender, operated by hand or power to attain proper radius of
bends, bars shall not be bent or straightened in a manner that will injure the materials. Bars
bent during transport or handling shall be straightened before being used on the work. They
shall not be heated to facilitate bending. Unless otherwise specified a “U” type hook at the
end of bar shall invariably be provided to main reinforcement. The radius of the bend shall
not be less than twice the diameter of the round bar and the length of the straight part of
the bar eyond the end of the curve shall be at least four times the diameter of the round
bar. In case of bars which are not round and in case of deformed bars, the diameter shall
be taken as the diameter of circle having an equivalent effective area. The hooks shall be
suitably encased to prevent any splitting of the concrete. All the reinforcement bars shall be
accurately placed in each position shown on the drawing, and shall be securely held in
position during placing of concrete by annealed binding wire not less than 1mm. in size. And
by using stay block or metal chair spacers, metal hangers, supporting wire or other
approved device at sufficient close intervals, bars shall not be allowed to sag between
supports nor displaced during concreting or any other operation of the work. All devices
used for positioning shall be of non corrodible materials. Wooden and metal supports shall
not extent to the surface of concrete except where shown on drawings. Placing bars on
layers of freshly laid concrete as the work progresses for adjusting bar spacing shall not be
allowed. Pieces of broken stone or brick and wooden block shall not be used. Layers or bars
shall be separated by spacer bars, precast mortar blocks or other approved devices.
Reinforcement after being placed in position shall be maintained in a cleaned condition
until completely embedded in concrete. Special care shall be exercised to prevent any
displacement of reinforcement of reinforcement in concrete already placed. To prevent
reinforcement from corrosion, concrete cover shall be provided as indicated on drawing. All
the bars protruding from concrete and to which other bars are to be spliced and which are
likely to be exposed for a period exceeding 10 days shall be protected by a thick coat of neat
cement grout, bras crossing each other where required shall be secured by binding wire
(annealed size not less than 1 mm in such a manner that they not slip overreach other at
the time of fixing and concreting. As far as possible, bras of full length shall be used. In case
this Is not possible, over lapping of bars shall be done as directed. When practicable,
overlapping bars shall not touch each other, but be kept apart by 25mm or 1.25 time the
maximum size of the course aggregate whichever is greater by concrete between them.
Where not feasible, overlapping bars shall be bound with annealed wire not less than 1mm
thick twisted tight. The overlap shall be staggered for different bars and located at point,
along the span where neither shear nor bending moment is maximum. Whenever indicated
on the drawing or desired by the Engineer-in-charge., bas shall be jointed coupling which
have a cross section sufficient to transmit the full stresses of bars. The ends of the bars that
are joined by coupling shall be upset for sufficient length so that the effective cross section
at the base of thread is not less than the nominal cross section of the bar. Threads shall be
standard thread. Steel for coupling shall conform to IS: 226. when permitted or specified on
the drawings, joints, of reinforcement bars shall but welded so as to transmit their full
stresses. Welded joints shall preferably be located at point where steel will not be subjected
to more than 75% of the maximum permissible stresses and welds so staggered that at any
one section not more that 20 prevent of the roads are welded. Only electric are welding
using a process which excludes air form the molten metal and conforms to any or all other
special provision for the work shall be accepted. Suitable means shall be provided for
holding bars securely in position during welding. It shall be ensured that no voids are left in
welding and when welding is done in two or three stage, previous surface shall be cleaned
properly. Ends of the bars shall be cleaned off all loose scale, rust , grease, paint and other
foreign matter before welding. Only competent welders shall be employed on the work. The
M.S. electrodes used for welding shall conform to IS: 814 welding pieces of reinforcement

MODE OF MEASUREMENT & PAYMENT:
For the purpose of calculating consumption, wastage shall not be permitted beyond

measured in length including overlap, separately for different diameters as actually used in
the work. Where welding or coupling is resorted to in place of lap joints, such joints shall be
measured for payment as equivalent length of overlap as per design requirement. From the

standard weight. Length shall include hooks at the ends. Wastage and annealed steel wire
for binding shall not be measured and the cost of these items shall be meemed to be
included in the rate for reinforcement. The rate for reinforcement includes cost of the
binding wires, its carting to work site, cutting beding, placing, binding and fixing in position
as shown on drawings and as directed. It shall also include all devices for keeping
reinforcement in approved position cost of jointing as per approved method and all wastage
and spacer bars.
The rate shall be for a unit of one kg.

1.0. TheshutteringtobeprovidedshallbeofordinarytimberplanksandshallconformtoM-26.
1.1. The dimensions of scantlings and battens shall conform to the design. The strength of
the wood shall not be less than thatassumed inthe design.
2.0. Workmanship : 2.1. The form work shall conform to the shapee lines and dimension as
shown on the plans and be soconstructed as to remain sufficiently rigid during the
placing and compacting of the concrete. Adequate arrangements shall bemade by the
contractor to safe-guard against any settlement of the form work during the course of
concretting and afterconcreting. Theformworkof shuttering, centering,
scaffoldingbracingetc. shall beasper design.
2.2. Cleaning & Treatment of forms: 2.2.1. All rubbish, particularly chippings shaving andsaw
dust shall be removedfromthe interior of the form before the concrete is placed and the
form work in contact with concrete shall be cleaned andthoroughly welted or treated.
The surface shall be then coaled with soap solution applied before concreting is done.
Soapsolution for the purpose shall be prepared by dissolving yellow soap in water to get
consistency of paint. Alternatively a coatof raw linseed oil or form oil of approved
manufacture may be applied in case steel shuttering is used. Soap solution or
rawlinseed oil shall be applied after thoroughly cleaning the surface. Care shall be taken
that the coaling does not gel onconstructionjoint surface andreinforcementbars.
2.3. Stripping time : 2.3.1. In normal circumstances and where ordinary cement is used
forms may be struck after expiry offollowingperiods.:

2.4. Procedure when removing the form work : 2.4.1. All form work shall be removed
without such shock or vibrations
aswoulddamagethereinforcedconcretesurface.Beforethesoffitformworkandstrutsarcr
emoved,thesoffitsandtheconcretesurfaceshallbeexposedwherenecessaryinorder
toascertainthattheconcretehassufficientlyhardened.
2.5. Centering : 2.5.1. The centering to be provided shall be got approved. It shall be
sufficiently strong to ensure absolutesafetly of the form work and concrete work
before, during and after pouring concrete. Watch should be kept to see
thatbehaviour of centering and form work is satisfactory during concreting. Erection
should also be such that it would allowremovalof formsinproper sequencewithout
damagingeither theconcreteortheformsto beremoved.
2.5.2. Thepropsofcenteringsha!lbeprovidedonfirmfoundationorbaseofsufficientstrengthtoc
arrytheloadswithoutanysettlement.
2.5.3. The centering and form work shall be inspected and approved by the Engineer- in-
charge before concreting. But thiswill not relieve the contractor of his responsibility
for strength, adequacy and safety of form work and centering. If there is afailure of
form work or centering, contractor shall be responsible for the damages to the work,
injury to life and damage toproperty.
2.6. Scaffolding:
2.6.1. All scaffolding, hoisting arrangements and ladders etc. required for the facilitating of
concreting shall be provided andremoved on completion work by contractor at his
own expense. The scaffolding, hoisting arrangements and ladders etc. shallbe strong
enough to withstand all live, dead and impact loads expected to act and shall be
subject to the approval of theEngineer-in-charge. However, contractor shall be solely
responsible for the safely of the scaffolding, hoisting
arrangement,ladders,workandworkmanetc.
2.6.2. The scaffolding,hoisting arrangements and ladders shallallow easy approach to
thework spot and afford easyinspection.
2.6.3. The rate is applicable to all conditions of working and heightuplo 4 mts. The rate
shallinclude the cost of materialsand labourforvariousoperationsinvolved suchas:
(a) Splayed edges, notching, allowance for operlaps and passing at angles, battens
centering, shuttering, strutting, proppingbolting, nailing,wedging,easing,

2.7. Re-Use : 2.7.1. Before-re-use, all forms shall be inspected by Engineer-in-charge and
their suitability ascertained. Theforms shall be scarred, cleaned, and joints gone over,
repaired where required. Inside surface shall be retreated to
preventadhesionofconcrete.
3.0. Modeofmeasurements&payment:
3.1. Form work shall be measured as the area in square meters of shuttering in contract
with concrete except in the case ofinclined member and portion of curved pro-file
and upper side in which case only area of underside shall be measured forpayment.
3.4. Form work to secondary beams shall be measured up to the sides of main beams but
no deduction shall be made from theform work of the main beam at the inter section
point. No deduction shall be made from the form work of a column at
intersectionofbeams.

Excavation of trenches shall be carried out in accordance with para 4.2 of IS:5822 :
1994.Excavation for trenches shall generally refer to open

The excavation shall be planned and carried out so that progress on trench excavation shall be
adequate to achieve desired progress on laying and jointing pipes so as to complete the same in
all respect within the time limit.
Clearing of sites :
The site on which the pipes are to be laid and jointed and the area required for setting out and
other operations shall be cleared off all obstructions, loose stones and materials, rubbish of all
kinds, stumps, brush wood as well as all trees falling in trench width as directed by Engineer-in-
charge/Consultant. The roots shall be entirely removed.
The products of the clearing shall be stacked at suitable place within a lead of 90 m or
disposed off as directed by the Engineer-in-charge/. In respect of jungle cutting, bamboo, jungle
wood and brush wood shall be cut down and their roots dug up. All wood and other materials
from the clearing, shall be the property of owner and shall be arranged as directed by the
Engineer-in-charge or his authorised Agent. The materials pronounced as useful by the Engineer-
in-charge shall be conveyed and properly stacked within the specified area as directed. All holes
or hollows whether originally existing or produced by digging-up roots, shall be carefully filled
up with earth and well rammed and levelled off as may be directed.
The centre line i.e. the alignment of pipe line trench etc. shall be demarcated by the contractor
as per instruction of the Engineer-in-charge and it shall be the responsibility of the contractor to
install substantial reference marks, bench marks, etc. and maintain them as long as the work is
completed required true to line, level curve and slopes. The contractor shall be fully responsible
for alignments and dimension of trench. The labour, materials, etc. required for setting out and
establishing bench marks and other reference marks taking levels for fixing gradients of pipe line
etc. shall be arranged by the contractor at his own cost.
The excavation for the pipe trenches shall include removal of all material of whatever nature
andwhether in wet or dry condition necessary for laying of pipe lines exactly in accordance with
alignment, levels, grades and curves shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer-in-
charge. The width and depth of the trenches shall be kept as per instruction of Engineer-in-
charge. Generally the trenches shall be kept 60 cm wider than the outer diameter of pipeline
(including coating) to be laid and depth of excavation to conform the gradient shown in approved
plans. Trenches shall be excavated to the exact width and depth according to the size of pipe and
the sides shall be left vertical as far as possible. The pipe trenches shall be taken sufficiently deep
to give a minimum cushion of one metre above the top of pipe. At joints, the trenches shall be
made deeper and wider suitably for some length for facilitating welding of joints. The contractor
shall have to provide necessary shoring and strutting at his own cost in the trenches where soft or
loose soil is met with. Extra excavation required for welding pits will be paid for. Payment will
be made on cum. basis as per schedule-’B’
The contractor shall notify the Engineer-in-charge before starting excavation to enable him
to take levels for longitudinal and cross section for purpose of record of measurements before the
ground is disturbed. The bottom of the trench shall be levelled both longitudinally and
transversely or sloped as directed by the Engineer-in-charge. The contractor at his own cost shall
remove boulders if met with to make the bottom of the trench level. No filling shall be allowed
to bring the trench level. If excavation for trench is made deeper than that shown on the plans, or
ordered by the Engineer-in-charge, the extra depth shall have to be made up with sand filling
with watering and ramming at his own cost by the contractor. The Engineer may order such
changes in the dimensions and alignment of pipe trench as may be deemed necessary to secure
satisfactory cover over pipeline.
The contractor shall, at his own expense, make provision for all pumping, dredging, bailing
out or draining water and the trenches shall be kept dry during execution of work.
At places where the pipeline crosses existing pipe line, road, canals, etc. excavation shall be
made deeper and wider to adjust the laying of pipe and casing pipes at levels specified by the
authority in-charge of existing pipe line or roads or canals. After excavation is completed the
contractor shall notify the same to Engineer-in-charge. Laying of pipe line shall not be
commenced until the Engineer-in-charge has approved the depth and dimensions of trenches and
SHORING AND STRUTTING:
The contractor shall provide and maintain necessary shoring and strutting in loose strata to
prevent falling/sliding of sides at his own cost. The contractor shall get design of shoring
approved by the Engineer-in-charge. The shoring shall be of sufficient strength to resist side
pressure and ensure safety against slips and blows and to prevent damage to work, property and
injury to persons. It shall be removed after the work is completed.
Care should be taken to see that no damage is caused to existing sewers, underground pipes,
cables, etc. If they are damaged during excavation, the same shall have to be restored by the
Contractor at his cost. Certificate of satisfactory restoration including all protective measures
shall have to be obtained by the Contractor for all such services, roads, canals, etc. from the
concerned authority.
The trenches shall be strongly fenced and red light signals shall be kept at night to prevent
accidents. Sufficient care and protective measure shall be taken to see that the excavation shall
not damage the adjoining structures. The contractor shall be entirely responsible for any injury to
life and damage to the properties etc. Necessary protection work such as guide ropes, crossing
places, barricades, caution boards etc. shall be provided by the Contractor. The contractor shall
also provide facility for crossing trench wherever required as per instruction of Engineer-in-
CLASSIFICATION OF STRATA:
The decision regarding classification of strata shall rest with the Engineer-in-charge /
consultant and his decision shall be binding to the contractor. In case of dispute the decision of
Superintending Engineer shall be final and binding to the contractor.
The contractor shall have to arrange at his cost bailing or Pumping out all water, which may
accumulate in the trench during the progress of the work, either by percolation, seepage, spring,
rain or any other cause. Similarly he shall also have to arrange diverting surface flow if any, by
providing earthen bunds or by other means at his cost. The bunds shall be removed after the
work is completed in all respect at his own cost.
DISPOSAL OF EXCAVATED STUFF:
No excavated stuff from trench is to be placed even temporarily within a distance up to
metre from outer edge of trench. All excavated materials shall be property of owner. The
contractor shall have to sort out useful materials and stack them separately at convenient places
as directed within 90 m. lead. The materials not useful in any way shall be disposed off within
radius of 3000 m as directed by the Engineer-in-charge. The site should be cleared all debris on
completion of work.
MODE OF MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT:Quantity of the excavation will be measured
up to range of 0.01 m. in the slab of 1.50 m. , 1.5 to 3.0 m and 3.0 to 4.5 m depth as per schedule
‘B’ according to actual work done and payment will be made on cum. basis.
The payment shall be made on Cum. Basis.

The excavation for the pipe trenches shall include removal of all material of whatever nature
andwhether in wet or dry condition necessary for laying of pipe lines exactly in accordance with
alignment, levels, grades and curves shown on the plans or as directed by the Engineer-in-
charge. The width and depth of the trenches shall be kept as per instruction of Engineer-in-
charge. Generally the trenches shall be kept 60 cm wider than the outer diameter of pipeline
(including coating) to be laid and depth of excavation to conform the gradient shown in approved
plans. Trenches shall be excavated to the exact width and depth according to the size of pipe and
the sides shall be left vertical as far as possible. The pipe trenches shall be taken sufficiently deep
to give a minimum cushion of one metre above the top of pipe. At joints, the trenches shall be
made deeper and wider suitably for some length for facilitating welding of joints. The contractor
shall have to provide necessary shoring and strutting at his own cost in the trenches where soft or
loose soil is met with. Extra excavation required for welding pits will be paid for. Payment will
be made on cum. basis as per schedule-’B’
The contractor shall notify the Engineer-in-charge before starting excavation to enable him
to take levels for longitudinal and cross section for purpose of record of measurements before the
ground is disturbed. The bottom of the trench shall be levelled both longitudinally and
transversely or sloped as directed by the Engineer-in-charge. The contractor at his own cost shall
remove boulders if met with to make the bottom of the trench level. No filling shall be allowed
to bring the trench level. If excavation for trench is made deeper than that shown on the plans, or
ordered by the Engineer-in-charge, the extra depth shall have to be made up with sand filling
with watering and ramming at his own cost by the contractor. The Engineer may order such
changes in the dimensions and alignment of pipe trench as may be deemed necessary to secure
satisfactory cover over pipeline.
The contractor shall, at his own expense, make provision for all pumping, dredging, bailing
out or draining water and the trenches shall be kept dry during execution of work.
At places where the pipeline crosses existing pipe line, road, canals, etc. excavation shall be
made deeper and wider to adjust the laying of pipe and casing pipes at levels specified by the
authority in-charge of existing pipe line or roads or canals. After excavation is completed the
contractor shall notify the same to Engineer-in-charge. Laying of pipe line shall not be
commenced until the Engineer-in-charge has approved the depth and dimensions of trenches and
SHORING AND STRUTTING:
The contractor shall provide and maintain necessary shoring and strutting in loose strata to
prevent falling/sliding of sides at his own cost. The contractor shall get design of shoring
approved by the Engineer-in-charge. The shoring shall be of sufficient strength to resist side
pressure and ensure safety against slips and blows and to prevent damage to work, property and
injury to persons. It shall be removed after the work is completed.
Care should be taken to see that no damage is caused to existing sewers, underground pipes,
cables, etc. If they are damaged during excavation, the same shall have to be restored by the
Contractor at his cost. Certificate of satisfactory restoration including all protective measures
shall have to be obtained by the Contractor for all such services, roads, canals, etc. from the
concerned authority.
The trenches shall be strongly fenced and red light signals shall be kept at night to prevent
accidents. Sufficient care and protective measure shall be taken to see that the excavation shall
not damage the adjoining structures. The contractor shall be entirely responsible for any injury to
life and damage to the properties etc. Necessary protection work such as guide ropes, crossing
places, barricades, caution boards etc. shall be provided by the Contractor. The contractor shall
also provide facility for crossing trench wherever required as per instruction of Engineer-in-
CLASSIFICATION OF STRATA:
The decision regarding classification of strata shall rest with the Engineer-in-charge /
consultant and his decision shall be binding to the contractor. In case of dispute the decision of
Superintending Engineer shall be final and binding to the contractor.
The contractor shall have to arrange at his cost bailing or Pumping out all water, which may
accumulate in the trench during the progress of the work, either by percolation, seepage, spring,
rain or any other cause. Similarly he shall also have to arrange diverting surface flow if any, by
providing earthen bunds or by other means at his cost. The bunds shall be removed after the
work is completed in all respect at his own cost.
DISPOSAL OF EXCAVATED STUFF:
No excavated stuff from trench is to be placed even temporarily within a distance up to
metre from outer edge of trench. All excavated materials shall be property of owner. The
contractor shall have to sort out useful materials and stack them separately at convenient places
as directed within 90 m. lead. The materials not useful in any way shall be disposed off within
radius of 3000 m as directed by the Engineer-in-charge. The site should be cleared all debris on
completion of work.
MODE OF MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT:Quantity of the excavation will be measured
up to range of 0.01 m. in the slab of 1.50 m. , 1.5 to 3.0 m and 3.0 to 4.5 m depth as per schedule
‘B’ according to actual work done and payment will be made on cum. basis.
The payment shall be made on Cum. Basis.

convenience. The corporation shall carry out the work by any other agency at the
contractor’s risk and cost. If the instructions are not completed within 7 days from the
date of order to cart the surplus materials and clear the site, the said work shall be carried
out by the Municipal Corporation at the risk and cost of the contractor and no claim or
dispute shall be entertained in this respect.
If the filling in trenches after settlement of the earth filling in trenches is to be done and
the same shall be carried out by the contractor without asking any extra rate. The
contractor shall have to cart the surplus earth after the trenches we will watered and
refilled with the sand. The rate of carting including carting of brickbats, metal, rubble
vegetable and garbage, if necessary to clear the road surface.

The pipe shall be of best quality stoneware pipes. The pipes shall be of approved quality
make and shall be brought on site after approval. (The pipes shall be laid in grade as per
instruction.)Contractor shall have to procure bills for standard pipes.
The joints shall be done in cement proportion 1:1 (1 part cement: 1 part sand) using spun
yarn dipped in hot asphalt and caulking tools. The hydraulic pressure test shall be given
to the contractor for testing pipes and jointing. No trenches shall be filled without the
approval of the engineer in charge.
The rate of the pipe work are including of excavation and refilling. The excavation etc.
shall be done as follows:
Excavation: The sewer trench shall be excavated to the alignment and gradient shown on
the plan and section. In all sorts of soil including old masonary, asphalt roads and wet
excavation. The sewer excavation shall be commenced at the down stream end of the
sewer and be continued up to the gradient as directed. The trench shall not open more
than 60 mts. in advance of the completed sewer only when directed by the engineer in
charge looking to the progress of the work in obtaining the formation of the bottom of the
trenches the usual methods of using sign rails and boning roads shall be adopted during
the whole of the process. The centre line of uniform height shall be carried clearly on
each rail. The depth of the excavation and invert of the sewer shall be checked by means
of boning road of approved length and also by straight edge. The bed of the trench shall
be well rammed before starting laying of sewer lines and cement concrete and masonary
Where trenches are deep in bad grounds the sides shall be supported by suitable
timbering of shorting work looking to the nature of the soil near big or important
structure, the sides of the trenches shall be closely and securely timbered, if any
settlement of the buildings in anticipated the timbering shall be left in the ground. The
various materials excavated shall be separately stacked so that in refilling that may be
relayed on the same order as before and least possible damage shall be done carpet on the
public roads and private properties. Surface covering consisting of asphalt carpet shall be
kept on side and preserved for reinstatement. The excavated earth shall not be heaped
near the trenches so as to caused unnecessary obstruction along the trenches during
inspection trenches etc. shall be tunneled under only as necessary. The side of the
trenches shall be nearly vertical and plumb and red light shall be placed at each end at
intervals and instructions and further protected by rope fence. Necessary caution boards
shall also be created and as directed by the engineer in charge.
Wherever possible material excavated from the trenches of whatever kind shall not be
placed nearer than three meters from the outer edge of the excavated trenches. The
utmost shall have to be taken in refilling the trenches so that no damage may be done no
sewer, no lump shall be allowed to be put around the sewer. The ramming of the filling
shall be done and well watered.
The surplus earth shall be removed directed within 30 meters lead. The measurements of
the work shall be exact length and width of the trenches as specified or as per City
Engineer instruction and depth shall be measured vertical as per section up to invert or
the pipeline. The City Engineer reserves the right of extra excavation on either side if
considers necessary for the safety of the work.
The bottom and sides of the trench shall be dressed in level and plumb in all directed
before any concrete is in dia. In case the excavation is done deeper than required no
filling shall be allowed to bring the formation to proper level but contractor shall have to
lay cement or lime concrete of filing or other acceptable materials as directed by the City
Engineer at contractor own cost so as to come to proper formation. In case bad
formations are met with the work shall have to be done as per instruction of City
Engineer. Necessary arrangements for watering trenches must be provided by contractor
and without proper watering trenches will not be allowed to be filed to further Contractor
shall have to make arrangement for access to invert of the sewer and for inspection of the
work as ordered by the engineer. If it is required to shift or after the alignment section of
diameter of the pipe the contractor shall carry out the altered work at the rates quoted by

and ramming with rammers shall have to be done at all place of important work where
ordered by Engineer in charge. After order to refill the trench is give the trenches shall
have to be refilled within 4 days with complete watering. If the contractor fails to do
watering satisfactory corporation shall get it done at the risk and cost of the contractor
with or without giving any notice and the expenses incurred in doing so recovered from

Excavation for foundation trenches and pits etc. in all type of hard and soft soil such as

Concrete shall be laid in layers of 15 cms. and well consolidated maintained by the

Cement shall confirm to M-3, sand shall confirm to M-6, coarse agg. shall confirm to M-
13, water shall confirm M-1.
The prop. of the cement of sand coarse agg. shall be 1 : 5 : 10 i.e. 1 part of cement, 5 part
of sand and 10 parts of coarse agg. by column. and the work shall be carried out as per
inst. of Engineer in charge and as per C.3.
Brick work cement mortar :
Bricks shall be table brick confirming of approved kiln specifications as laid sown n
PWD Hand book NO. 2. These shall be well burnt and free from all defects and shall be
got approved by the Engineer in charge before the work is started.
Cement to be used for mortar shall comply with ISS & PWE Hand book specifications,
cement mortar in the brick work shall be 1 part of cement of parts of sand. Every brick
well sacked in water is required to be laid I full & closed joints of cement mortar the
thickness of which shall not exceed 1.25 cms. If on removal of centering any open joint
shall be found, these shall be pointed immediately. Special care shall taken to make the
face of brick work smooth brick work shall be toothed or shall racked back in coarse.
All in trades of curves shall be worked from temple strictly made to dimensions as per
1974-75 latest plan and section approved by C.E.
Brick work in general shall be of first class workmanship & shall be executed according
to the plan working proper dimension & as directed by the Office in charge from time to
time. Brick should be thoroughly wetted in water before use. All brick work to be cleaned
& wetted before laying cement mortar shall be prepared in special iron pals. And mixed
bag of 1.25 cft. or 1 cft. as measured as the case may be. All materials shall be stacked in
one side so as not to obstruct traffic in any way. The masonry should be constructed in
proper workmanship like manner with jointing plumb etc. to confirm with the general
specification No. 45 PWD Hand Book. The face work should be nearly finished. The
shall be kept watered for a week at least after the date of completion.
Cement concrete work for R.C.C. slab
The R.C.C. work of slab M200 shoud be cast as per design and reinforcement work as
per inst. Of engg. Incharge and as per standard design..TMt. bars confirm to IS code
The work in general is to be done as per PWD Hand book specification No. 34 centering
shall not be struck off & removed without permission of C.E. RCC slab of M200
proportion will have to be provided. The slab shall be as per IRC standard a ring of bars
around the openings.
All centering shall be prepared & places as directed & shall be struck off & draws with
case as to cause cracks & damages the work. Contractor shall have to remove & improve
all disapproved masonry work either settled of damaged the top bottom & sides of the
slab shall be neatly finished with cement mortar of 1 : 4 proportion.
Cement concrete for the bottom portion of manhole shall consist of one part of cement
two parts of sand four parts of black trap metal of other approved material of 0.6 to
cms size from well graded as per instruction. The rate includes all necessary materials
mixing lifting placing ramming watering etc. the exposed faces to be neatly finished
smooth with cement as per instructions. The concrete work to kept constantly watered for
at least fortnight.
Cement Plaster :
Cement plaster 20 mm thick shall be done suing cement mortar of 1 part of cement &
parts of sand in uniform thickness with surfaces truly in plums. The work in general shall
comply with general specifications for plaster No. 64 in PWD hand book. The plaster
surfaces to be kept damp at least for a fortnight. All internal sides of the manholes
including soffit of the arch shall be provided with cement plaster.
C. I. Articles :
These shall be made accurately to form & dimensions shown in the drawing casting shall
be sharp clean from cracks flows air bubbles casting shall be coated with Dr. Angles
Smith solution be accepted red not or with anticorrosive paint. No or more than 1% lower
than the weight to the dimensions in the drawing. Contractor shall have to submit two
manholes of C.T. materials to the C.E. for reference and these samples shall be returned
at the completion of the work. all rejected materials shall have to be removed form the
site of within 24 hours.
C.I. manhole cover with seat shall have 55 cms. inside diameter & shall weight not less
than 185 kgs. C.I. manhole to be set in cement mortar with cement concrete of 1 : 2 :
prop. around. C. I. cover shall be marked with year mar AMC. etc. & arrow showing the
direction of flow.foot steps shall be of the best gray cast iron as specified above true to
dimensions. The rate includes mixing the same in position as directed the wt. of the
approved CI foot steps shall be 8 Ibis. RCC steps of approved design and quality shall
have to be fixed if so ordered by C.E. without extra charges. C.I. steps shall be fixed at
interval of 37 cm. vertically & 22 cm. horizontally starting from the invert of the line.

whether any losses or damages to the project have taken place or not and / or whether the work
suffers from poor workmanship or not will be taken by the Commissioner of AMC and on the
Commissioner's decision regarding such losses or damages or defect whatsoever being so
notified by the AMC to us, We shall immediately take steps and ensure that
M/s.__________________________________ faithfully and diligently carry out the necessary
remedial steps to the full satisfaction of the Commissioner of the AMC. The opinion of the
Commissioner as to whether full and complete remedial steps, to the full satisfaction the
Commissioner of the AMC has been taken or not, will be that of the AMC. For the purpose, of
arriving at such decision as aforesaid it will be open to the Commissioner of the AMC in case he
so desires, to delegate this power to subordinate like the city Engineer to take appreciate decision
and the decisions referred to above will be deemed to be properly take and as if taken by the
Commissioner of the AMC. In the eventually of M/s.______________ not taking
remedial action to the almost satisfaction of the Commissioner of AMC. The AMC will be
entitled to get the work done itself or from sources. On the Commissioner of the AMC notifying
to us the total expenses incurred for this purpose. We hereby expressly have under taken to pay
the AMC the said amount forth with and in any case not less than 7 days from taken to pay the
AMC the said binding the amount indicted by the Commissioner of the AMC and our obligation
to pay such amount will be continuing of the AMC and our obligation irrespective of any dispute
of differences that may arise between us and M/s. _____________________________ of

Guarantee will come into effect from such completion date. In case however, the contract of

separate part and to simultaneously indicate a break up of the contract value equivalent to the
separate part. In which case the PERFORMANCE GUARNATEE to extent of the different
completion dates. It is expressly understood that the considering this period of five years and one
month, the date by which the Corporation, intimate the Bank about the losses, damages or
problems as the case may be, shall be considered as long as such intimation is within a period of
five years and one month from the completion date. We the ___________________ Bank will be
liable, irrespective of whether the remedial actions or lack thereof has taken place after the
period of the five years and one month.
