Plate Renewal & Associated Works

Hull Plating: Cropping and renewal of Steel plates at various places of ship’s hull, Ship side including degutting and re-gutting of panelling, removal and re-fitment of existing glass wool, plywood, sunmica, wooden frames, electrical fittings, cables etc.. The panelling should be removed and refitted in the presence of a representative of the Shipwright Shop. Any damage to the existing panelling should be made good by the repairer at their own cost including materials. The work includes cleaning of work site, renewal of stiffeners, flat plate bracket, shell frames/bottom floor, foundation, bulkheads shell frames (transverse and longitudinal), brackets, foundation, bulk heads, girders, opening and fitment of engine room pipelines in way of plate renewal area if pipeline holed or damaged in 300 mm length same to be renewed with flange and fasteners (with materials) and tanks man holes etc. as required on-board DSS vessels. Manufacturing / fabrication and fitment of item like foundation, frames, brackets, girders, coamings etc. (above waterline and below Main Deck), tanks, confined tanks, double bottom tanks, engine room, steering compartment, enclosed places, pump rooms, ship’s keel, skegs, nose, rudder and A-bracket, curvature, and rudder trunk including proper cleaning of worksite, renewal of MS Plate/Angle etc. will be calculated as steel renewal at the same rate. Note: “While carrying out plate renewal works it shall be ensured that alignment of stern tube is not disturbed / altered. If the alignment is disturbed it shall be the responsibility of the firm / contractor to rectify the defects free of cost”. Note: The inner surface of the renewed and welded steel plates supplied by the department for renewal has to be coated with 02 coats of Primer Paint of Make: Jotun/ Akzo Nobel/Sigma. This will form part of scope of work and shall be undertaken by the firm with supply of paints and Labour Charges at the quoted price. Rates Quoted should include IRS approved consumables, Labour charges and according to the job scope above. M.S.Plates, angles, flats, rods and steel sections shall be supplied by the Department.

Deck Plating: Cropping and renewal of steel plates at various places of ship’s decks and superstructure on-board DSS vessels including degutting and re-gutting of panelling, removal and re-fitment of existing glass wool, plywood, sunmica, wooden frames, electrical fittings, cables etc.. The panelling should be removed and refitted in the presence of a representative of the Shipwright Shop. Any damage to the existing panelling should be made good by the repairer at their own cost including materials. The work includes cleaning of work site, renewal of stiffeners, flat plate bracket, foundation, deck beams/girders, bulkheads, deck fittings, eye plates, cleats coaming, stanchion, stanchion shoes etc. coming on the way of plate renewal will be part of plate renewal manufacturing/ fabrication and fitment of item like foundation, bollards, towing post, frames brackets, girders, coamings, cleats, manhole cover, hatches, guard rails, piping works, ventilation flaps, air vent, system pipelines etc. from MS Plate/Angles/G.I. or MS Pipe etc. will be calculated as steel renewal at the same rate. Note: The inner surface of the renewed and welded steel plates supplied by the department for renewal has to be coated with 02 coats of primer paint of Make: Jotun/Akzo Nobel/Sigma. Renewal of Plates on Main Deck & A Deck with removal and reinstallation of Deck Machinaries: Cropping and renewal of steel plates at ship’s deck with removal and re-installation of deck machineries. including degutting and re-gutting of panelling, removal and re-fitment of existing glass wool, plywood, sunmica, wooden frames, electrical fittings, cables etc.. The panelling should be removed and refitted in the presence of a representative of the Shipwright Shop. Any damage to the existing panelling should be made good by the repairer at their own cost including materials. The work includes cleaning of work site. The works include dismantling of deck machineries such as boat davits, anchor windless, winches, derrick etc., cropping and renewal of plates with renewal of frames, brackets, girders, foundations etc., Survey and certification of renewed plates, re-installation of deck machineries and successful trial of the equipment under Certification of IRS/MMD/IV Surveyor/Quality Control Committee of this Directorate as required on-board DSS vessels. Manufacturing/fabrication and fitment of items like foundations, frames, brackets, girders etc. from MS Plate/Angles etc. will be calculated for steel renewal at the same rate. Fender: Fitment of M.S. Fenders Size 6”/8”/10” including stiffeners and pad plates. Rates quoted including Labour and consumables etc. (M.S.Pipes & Plates will be supplied by department). Rates quoted including Labour and consumables etc. (M.S.Pipes & Plates will be supplied by department).

Re-welding of wasted weld seams: Rewinding of wasted weld seams on decks, hull plate, kort nozzle, rudder blades etc. To grind, develop, develop V groove and weld five runs on the wasted weld seams. To get the same tested and approved by IRS or Quality Control Committee of this Directorate. The rate offered should be for per running meter with grinding and five runs of welding inclusive of all materials, labour charges. The quantum of re-welding required to be done will be as per the recommendation of the IRS Surveyor or Quality Control Committee of this Directorate as applicable. The payment shall be made for the actual work performed. The order shall be placed on as and when required basis.

Renewal of Zinc Anodes: To cut and remove the existing deteriorated zinc anodes from hull plates, knort nozzle, rudder blades, skege, sea chests etc. and to weld new anodes at the specified locations. The Zinc Anodes has to be type approved and the test certificate pertaining to the batch of Zinc Anodes intended to be welded by the firm has to be get approved by the IV Surveyor/IRS/Quality control Committee of this Directorate as the case may be prior to fitment of Anodes. Rate offered for zinc Anodes should be for per kg. The payment shall be made on pro-rated basis. All materials, labour charges is the responsibility of the contractor. The order shall be placed on as and when required and per no.basis. The anodes will be required to be welded at the specified locations or as per the recommendation of the Quality Control Committee of this Directorate. The payment shall be made for the actual work performed.

Building up of pits on steel plates: Building up of pits on steel plates at skege, knort nozzle, rudder blades, deck, superstructure, hull etc. • To prepare the surface of pit by buffing/grinding. • Localized heating to be carried out for removal of moisture. • Building up of pits by using low hydrogen electrode. • Final grinding for surface finish. The rate offered should be for per pit. All materials, labour required for successful completion under certification of IRS Surveyor or Quality Control Committee of this Directorate as applicable will be provided by the contractor. The quantum of pits built up required to be done will be as per the recommendation of the IRS Surveyor or OIC concerned/ Quality Control Committee of this Directorate as applicable. The payment shall be made for the actual work performed. The order shall be placed on as and when required basis.
