Replacing the existing sand filter media with dual filter media using anthracite

Designing dual media filter bed

Supply of Anthracite as per item 1 above in quantity required as per design, properly graded and tested by supplier specifying the source of material and quality commensurate to the following specification:- SP Gravity - 1.45 - 1.55, Uniformity Coefft. 1.5, Bulk density - 0.73 - 0.75 T/m3, Hardness - 3 MOH,, Hard grove - 44 - 50, Carbon content > 90%, Ash - 3 - 4, Supply of Anthracite as per Item No.1 above in quantity required as per design, properly graded and tested by supplier specifying the source of material and quality commensurate to the following specification:- SP Gravity - 1.45 - 1.55, Uniformity Coefficient - 1.5, Bulk density - 0.73 - 0.75T/m3, Hardness - 3 MOH, Hard grove - 44 - 50, Carbon content > 90%, Ash - 3 - 4%,Volatile - 5 - 7%, Solubility - 1.5% in 10% HCI/ 10% NaOH for 24 Hours.Certification including all cost, taxes, conveyance to site, loading and unloading etc. complete

Removing filter media from the filter beds without making any damages to the existing structures and back manifolds and stacking at a safe and convenient place for segregation process and as per the directions of the department officers etc. complete.

Cleaning, drying and seiving the removed filter media and stacking the dismantled pebbles for reuse and spreading in the filter box in layers as per specifications and as per directions of the department officers.

Repair/ Alteration of the under drain system by replacing all damaged pipes with suitable arrangements and providing all additional mechanisms and fixtures required according to the design of multi layer filtering system etc. complete.

Modification/alteration of the existing bach washing system comprising of compressed air/blower and clear water providing new air scouring system, providing pressure regulating valves or such other mechanisms and fixtures required according to the design of multi layer filter media back washing operations etc. complete.

Washing and cleaning the filter chamber and rectifying damaged of filter walls including glazed tiles. preparing entire chamber suitable for dual media filter refurbishment

Strengthening floor of filter beds using M 25 cement concrete and and imported leak proofing materials and forming concrete steady blocks for the under train

Supplying filter sand by sieving and grading river sand procured from open market and the grade size must be designed in accordance with the grade of anthracite filter to avoid any interface chocking or obstruction on settling the media after back wash expansion

Refurbishing the filter bed using dual layer filter media as per the design separately laying each grade of supporting gravels and the filter sand and anthracite one above other separately as directed by the Engineer in charge etc. complete.

Conducting trial run of all the filter beds for a period up to 30 days, recording performance of filter in terms of quality, quantity of filtered water and length of filter run and providing required training to the operators of KWA for the trouble free functioning and maintenance of the filter beds
