Plating Painting and Associated Works

Hull Plating:- Cropping and renewal of steel plates at various places of Ship’s underwater hull, ship side (above waterline and below main deck), tanks, confined tanks, double bottom tanks, engine room, steering compartment, enclosed places, pump rooms, ship’s keel, skeges, nose, rudder and A-bracket, curvature, and rudder trunk including proper cleaning of worksite, renewal of shell frames (transverse and longitudinal), brackets, foundation, bulk heads, girders etc. as required on-board DSS vessels manufacturing/fabrication and fitment of item like foundation, frames, brackets, girders, coamings etc from MS Plate/Angle etc. will be calculated as steel renewal at the same rate. NOTE: “While carrying out plate renewal works it shall be insured that alignment is not disturbed/altered it shall be the responsibility of the contractor to rectify the defects free of cost”. Note:The inner surface of the renewed and welded steel plates supplied by the department for renewal has to be coated with 02 coats of Primer Paint of Make: Jotun/AkzoNoble/Sigma. This will form part of scope of worl and shall be undertaken by the firm with supply of paints and Labour Charges at the quoted price. MS plates, angles, flats etc., shall be supplied by the department.

Deck plating:- Cropping and renewal of steel plates at various places of Ship’s decks and superstructure including degutting and re-gutting of paneling, removal and re-fitment of exiting glass wool, plywood, sunmica, wooden frames, electrical fittings, cables etc. if found reusable. The work includes cleaning of work site, renewal of stiffeners, flat plate bracket, shell frames/bottom floor, foundation deck beams/girders, bulk heads, deck fittings, eye plates, cleats, coaming, stanchion, stanchion shoes etc. coming on the way of plate renewal will be part of plates renewal manufacturing/fabrication & fitment of item like foundation, bollards, towing post, frames, brackets, girders, coamings, cleats, manhole cover, hatches, guard rails, piping works, ventilation flaps, air vent, system pipe lines etc. from MS Plate/Angle G.I or MS Pipe etc. will be calculate as steel renewal at the same rate. Note: The inner surface of the renewed and welded steel plates supplied by the department for renewal has to be coated with 02 coats of primer paint of Make: Jotun/ Akzonoble/Sigma. Fender:- Fitment of M.S. Fenders, Size 6”/8” (schedule 40 pipes) including stiffeners and pad plates. (inclusive of all materials and labour charges).

Renewal of Zinc Anodes:- To cut and remove the existing deteriorated Zinc Anodes from Hull Plates, kort nozzle, rudder blades, skedge, sea chests etc. and to weld new anodes at the specified location. The zinc anodes has to be Lloyds register tested and the test certificate pertaining to the batch of zinc anodes intended to be welded by the firm has to get approve by the DSS nominated officer/ Quality Control Committee of this Directorate prior to fitment of Anodes. (inclusive of all materials, labour consumables etc.)

Blasting and Painting:- i)Cleaning of Hull by water jet machine with fresh water & surface preparation of the hull by grit blasting machine with removal of rusted layer thoroughly from plates and application of one coat approved international Epoxy Primer Akzonobel/Sigma paint by providing OEM Paint inspector, skilled manpower & necessary materials including staging, scaffolding materials and screening materials. The work has to be undertaken under supervision of paint inspector of the maker of paints. Note:- Grit (Iron/Copper Slag), Grit Blasting, air compressor, blasting equipments, paints and painting equipments, consumable etc. has to be arranged by the contractor.

ii)Painting of underwater hull surface with approved paint scheme (International, Akzonobel/Sigma brand). The work to be undertaken under supervision of OEM’s paints Inspector with required application of paint scheme through airless spray painting machine and guaranteed for 05 years. Anti-Corrosive (Tar free)-01 coat, Tie Coat-01 Coat, Antifouling-02 coats. Note:- Rubbing equipments, components, Air compressor, paints and airless spray painting machines, consumable etc. shall be arranged by the contractor, paint applied for above works should be of International, Akzonobel/ Sigma brand of 05 years paint performance guarantee of OEM.

Painting of Deck & Super Structure of Marine vessels:- Surface preparation by cleaning, Chipping, Buffing of Decks/Super Structure to ST-3 standards with 01 coat of Marine Grade Primer and 02 coat of Marine Grade paints make Akzonoble or sigma to be applied by mechanical spraying including all consumables, tools, tackles and machineries. (Paint scheme to be guaranteed for 01 year).

Internal Painting. Surface preparation & painting of Void Spaces, Coffer Dam, Anchor Chain , Chain Locker, Storing Spaces, Engine Room, E/R Bilges, Steering Gear and Compartment Store, Fore Peak Tanks and Ballast Tanks. Surface preparation by cleaning, chipping, buffing and application of one coat of Epoxy Primer and application of Two coats of paint make Akzonobel or sigma. (Marine Grade Paint as applicable). (Paint scheme is to be guaranteed for 01 year).

Commode:- Supply and fixing of (Western/Indian) type commode in passenger/crew area with attending all pipe lines and pipe fittings etc.

Main Deck & A Deck Machineries: Cropping and renewal of steel plates at ship’s deck with removal and re-installation of deck machineries. The works include dismantling of deck machineries such as boat davits, anchor windless, winches, derrick etc., cropping and renewal of plates with renewal of frames, brackets, girders, foundations etc., Survey and certification of renewed plates, re-installation of deck machineries and successful trial of the equipment under Certification of IRS/MMD or Quality Control Committee of this Directorate as required on-board DSS vessels. Manufacturing/fabrication and fitment of items like foundations, frames, brackets, girders etc. from MS Plate/Angles etc. will be calculated for steel renewal at the same rate.
