Soil Investigation and recommendation of foundation including the following steps/specification of work (for Job of 01 bore holes). 1. Mobilisation & demobilization of workers and equipment at site. 2. (a) Drilling of test boreholes of 150 mm dia by shell and augur with MS casing as per IS 1892-1972 (Reaffirmed 2016.) The depth of borehole shall be done in soil strate upto the depth of 15 m or if rock is encounted before that depth, it should be penetrated into the rock to a depth of minimum 3 m and collecting distrubed and undisturbed soil samples (Where ever possible) and observation of ground water table. (b) Carrying out standard penetratioon test as per IS-2131-1981 (Reaffirmed 2002). Ths SPT is required to be taken at every 0.5 m interval upto 2.5 m from the GL and 1 m interval onwords and at every change of strata. The test may be terminated earlier if 'N' value reaches 50. (c) Bore log data showing stratification of soil at various depths and level of water table shall be furnished. (d) RL of ground level/founding level with reference to BM should be mentioned in report. 3. Laboratory Investigation Collection of disturbed/undistruebed sample as per IS-2132 1986 and carrying out laboratory test for the following:- (a) Type of soil and its gradation. (b) Consistency limit. (c) Natural water content. (d) Shear test. (i) In order to determine the above properties the folloewing tests be conducted:- (aa) Sieve analysis on the coarse grained soil fraction. (ab) Hydrometer analysis on the fine grained soil fraction. (ac) Liquid and plastic limits. (ad) Natural denity and water content test. (ae) Shear tests. (af) Free swell index. (ag) Specific gravity test. (ah) Consolidation characteristics. (aj) Maping of soil profile etc. (ii) The result of held investigation conducted in the bore holes and the laboratory investigations conducted on the soil sample conducted from the bore holes be presented in the form of soil profile tables. For designing the foundation system of the proposed structures the following data are required :- (aa) Type of foundation system. (ab) Depth below ground level at which the foundation system be laid. (ac) Allowable bearing pressure. 4. The result from these investigation and test has been analysed and to provide required recommendation fo the design of foundation such as depth of the foundation and type of foundatoin with all the photographic record of soil exploration. Also recommendation on possibility of liquifacation of soil.
