| 1.00 | Low hydraulic oil alarm was frequently observed from Port water jet during recent deployment. Defect investigation carried out and observed that, hydraulic oil seepage form reversing & steering cylinder (stbd). Suspect damaged seal due to corrosion from continuous seawater exposure in harsh environment. Considering, water jet being most critical system onboard, following jobs are to be undertaken on priority: -
1. Removal of steering cylinders from Port water jet with help of special tool (extraction tool) and securing the water jet at midship for refitting the steering cylinders.
2. Dismantling rams using hydraulic press and inspection of steering rams and cylinder for pitting/ scoring marks with dial gauges to measure the depth of damage.
3. Cylinder ram to be repaired/ renewed with 03 Coats chrome plating on rams are to be carried out with curing period of 10 to 12 hours between each coat to ensure proper surface finish.
4. Replace worn out set with new set of waterjet seals.
5. Post chrome plating, refitment and insitu checks to be carried out for leak checks and satisfactory operation.
