CRYOGENIC CLEANING OF STATOR IN UNIT-III OF 3X42MW LARJI POWER HOUSE UNDER RESIDENT ENGINEER, LARJI POWER HOUSE DIVISION, HPSEBL, THALOUT DISTT MANDI (HP)
The scope of works involves execution of CO2 dry-ice jet cleaning on the complete stator assembly of Unit-III to remove embedded dust, carbon deposits, oil vapours and moisture contaminants affecting insulating integrity and cooling efficiency. Cleaning shall be performed through the access created after removal of two rotor poles (De-brazing and brazing in the scope of vendor) and from the back side of Stator (from the stator air cooler side), enabling reach to the stator core, winding overhangs, slot entry regions, and axial/radial ventilation ducts. The contractor shall deploy an industrial grade CO2 cleaning system with calibrated high-pressure nozzles, moisture traps, flow regulators, anti-static grounding and controlled pressure operation to ensure no mechanical abrasion or thermal stress to the insulation system. All equipment, dry ice/CO2 cylinders, hoses, scaffolding, protection sheets, illumination, consumables and technical manpower shall be arranged by the contractor. The work includes pre-cleaning inspection and joint recording of insulation Resistance (IR) and polarization Index (PI) values, followed by systematic CO2 blasting to achieve complete removal of conductive dust and contaminants from stator laminations, winding surfaces, end-winding bracings and internal cooling ducts. Humidity, dew point and electrostatic charge shall be monitored throughout the job. Post-cleaning, a joint inspection shall be carried out to verify surface cleanliness, intact insulation and clearance paths, IR and PI readings shall again be taken to confirm measurable improvements in insulation condition. The contractor shall ensure removal of all dislodged debris, restoration of the generator floor, and demobilization of all tools and equipment. A detailed completion report, including pre- and post cleaning test results procedure adopted equipment settings and photographic evidence shall be submitted to the Engineer-in-charge for technical record.
