03 Boring hole as shown on drg of 150 mm dia by shell and augur MS casing as per IS 1892-1979 for soil investigation in any type of soil/rock/concrete floors and sub bases refusal including boulders weathered rock upto a depth of 8mtr Bore hole depth can be reduced where hard strata is encountered Carrying out standard penetration test as per IS 2131-1981. The SPT is required to be taken at every 1m interval or every change of strata. The testing may be terminated earlier if ‘N’ value reaches 50.

Test report should include all the tests as required for designing the foundation such as SPT values bore logs classification and also should cover the general recommendations for the proposed type, of foundation system safe bearing capacity likely total settlement etc. The report shall be submitted in quintuplicate duly bounded in a presentable manner. The units rate quote shall be deemed to include cost of submission of such reports and samples of Soil.

Bore log data showing stratification of soil at various depths and level of water table shall be furnished. Collection of disturbed/undisturbed sample as per IS-2132-1986 and carrying out laboratory test for the following:- Sieve analysis Consolidation charactenstics, Particle size, Natural moisture content, Wet and dry density, Shear strength characteristics, Specific gravity, C value, moisture content. Plasticity index, Swelling pressure and free swell index for clayey soils.

Conducting plate load test as per IS-5249-1992 where essential will be decided in consultation with the soil investigation agency. Evaluation of safe bearing capacity based on shear failure and settlement failure criteria. Refer IS-1904-1986. IS 8009b Part I & 2 ) Allowable bearing capacity at various depths of 1.0 m, 1.2 m, 1.5 m, 1.8 m and 2 m more as required below “GL is to be given with suggestion for economical width and type of foundation to be adopted Carrying out swelling test of sample for determining presence of expansive soil Recommendatuion on use of under rearmed piled foundation including dia meter. Length, number of under reams and Safe load carrying capacity. Recommendation for suitability of earth obtained from foundation trenches for back filling and filling under floor also shall be given.

In addition to the above the report should contain following tests, as applicable to the soil on ground:- (i) Bore hole Chart (ii) Profile of all type bore holes (iii) Bearing capacity calculation indicating SBC of soil with the type of foundation and depth. (iv) Consolidated test on undisturbed sample (v) Chemical analysis of ground water (vi) Unconsolidated and un-drained triaxial shear test (vii) Crushing strength of hard rock samples recovered (viii) SBC of ground with type of foundation (ix) Existing water table (If mel) (x) Photographic record during the progress
